Rude staff specifically the manager. Closing 945pm 15 minutes before the actual listed store closing time because she wanted to go home early unacceptable. Avoid this place

Approximately between the first or second weeks of August 2023 while at this store a card I had tried to pay with would not be accepted by the machine due to a wear & tear minor crack near the magnetic stripe of the card making swiping the card unreadable. The cashier was friendly about it and instantly adjusted the point-of-sale terminal machine to recognize and accept manually inputting the card number instead, which was then successfully accepted by the terminal, and the transaction overall completed with no further complication or delay of any kind. I thanked them for their cooperation and patience, and left the store. I live near that store and most of the workers recognize me by face, and over approximately the next week and a half they would also enable a manual input of the card number. I had intended replacing that card but had postponed for personal reasons (related to getting paid by my employer), before requesting a replacement card from that card issuer. Requesting a replacement card from that card issuer (for lost, stolen, or damaged & non-functioning card) involves deactivating the current card and not having it available at all while waiting for the replacement card to arrive which takes approximately 4-5 business days. I had not began yet the process of replacing the card by August 22, 2023 and at approx 4:15pm -4:45pm went to that store location, and during checkout, was being checked out by a male employee working the cash register I didn't recognize from previous visits there. After I asked him to allow me manual card# input for payment he responded: "we don't do that here". I told him I had manually entered that card # multiple times over the past week or so and he simply repeated "we don't do that here". I asked him his name and if a store manager was available to discuss with them the situation. He said his name is Javier and that he is the store manager. I then asked for and bought two packs of cigarettes, paid for with cash, and left. That individual could have said "I'm sorry sir, but the procedure you mentioned is no longer available" or ".....has been discontinued by company policy.", or something similar in context of meaning. He could have been more professional and polite, and empathetic, but he was none of those. Instead, he was standoffish and indifferent in his human relations skills. He offered no apology, nor gave any response when I came right out and asked him if he was implying that I was making up what I had told him about that several different workers at that particular store had checked out purchases of mine using manual card# input of that same card over the past week. His response only: "we don't do that here". Very poor customer service. Extremely disappointing. I did not even include mentioning that during one of the previous encounters requiring manual card# input a store cashier asked if he could look closer at the card as if to get a better look at the condition of the card, then left the cash register with the card to a space between the current cash register and the next one, and taped the card edge in scotch tape by raveling the tape dispenser around & around the card 2-3 times giftwrap-style, resulting in a heavy thick layer of scotch tape directly over the card's swipeable magnetic stripe completely end-to-end. Whereas before the terminal machine would provide a system response that the machine detected the presence of a card being swiped but that the card stripe was unreadable and request to try again, after the store employee bound the card with that heavy layer of scotch tape the terminal machine remained in the preliminary ready-and-waiting state and never acknowledged that the card had been swiped at all, appearing like it had not detected the card being inserted into the swipe slot to begin with nor being swiped thereafter. Note that I made no complaint or grievance to that employee about heavily taping over that card at that time or any time after, that I had not reques

Prices are 30% lower than at CVS, e.g. for staples like Monster energy drinks. DGX is a cross between a medium-sized grocery store and a large convenience store. Obviously not the same variety as at Whole Foods, but also much cheaper.

Don’t buy cigs from there. Either not fresh at all or fake. I’m betting on the latter.

I started buying there because it was more affordable than wholefoods and as I buy products for a social project that I do serving sandwiches and juice in the area where I live, I need to buy in large quantities. Today when buying the products that were out of stock, I specifically needed to buy 8 snaples because they were on sale 2 for $2. I paid this amount yesterday when I bought some and I also paid the same amount two days ago. When I asked the guy who helped me, a guy with red hair He said that the price was 2 for $2.5 and I told him that wasn't right, because I had paid cheaper the day before and the price was written as 2 for $2, at that moment he told me that I could say whatever I wanted but the amount he would charge me would be 2 for $2.50. The thing is he charged me the amount without discount $1.75 for each and when I went to tell him that the amount was wrong showing that i was paying $14 per 8 bottles he told me to get out of the store or he was going to call the cops. What's the matter with this guy, is he under the influence of something or what? I've never been so mistreated in an establishment. At the end we were both arguing and I told him that I had nothing to do with his personal problems so he told me to watch my mouth because He had heard me saying something, I honestly don’t know what. I believe He was just playing the victim. Man, I’m a civilized person, to have someone telling me that He will call the cops if I don’t leave, that’s heavy stuff. The problem is not the money i lost, it wasn’t nothing, as i said I’m not even buying for me. If they check the cameras they will see that i was buying there a lot of things the last couple days, the problem is an unhappy worker taking out his personal frustration on customers.

Best spot downtown to pick up a Coke and some Doritos for a snack while you're walking around. Always a great selection of snacks, drinks, household and hygiene items. Fast checkout and friendly help.

This place is a welcome blessing to the downtown neighborhood! I was actually impressed with their selection. This is the first Dollar General that I've seen that has fresh produce. Some people (like others that have reviewed this place) need to remember that this is a Dollar General, not Whole Foods. This is the place to go to get ordinary brand names at the best price. If you want organic, and more high-level stuff, then go Whole Foods or the Red Apple Market.

Good day folks,I think that this point of Downtown was excited to welcome a new convenience store but the food section is extremely disappointing.I think that a market research had to be done before locating here since the people from Downtown are way more ahead and do not consume general food brands such as Danone, Nescafe, Hershey's etc.Basically, you won't find organic nor (real) sugar free selections. They don't even sell Essentia water.. Not sure how long this will survive here.Greetings, Johnny
