A new unhappy customer is here. The officer at this location, Jose, is rude and asks unjustified questions when you come in for a simple transaction. I came in to withdraw money as I wasn't aware new accounts opened online have to wait 30 days to receive a debit card! As I was doing a withdrawal with the teller. Jose goes into my account unauthorized and starts discussing its details across the room with the teller and me. This all happened while other customers were entering and out of the bank, possibly overhearing the discussion of my account. Jose then walks over to me as if to provide some sort of intimidation and asks personal financial questions, like: Does the recent transfer to my account from another bank belong to me? Do I have a source of income? And how do I plan on funding the account? Why am I withdrawing the majority of the money? Do I plan on closing it? All of which was absolutely none of his business which is why I didn't answer but one of his questions. I instead asked him WHY he needed to know all of that. He then went on to gaslight me when I made valid points on his questionable suspicion of me. He told me that my account was incomplete and I needed to complete a KPI form, which was A BALD-FACED LIE. Furthermore, these were questions I had already answered at the time I applied online MYSELF and opened the account virtually. He was completely out of line and on a power trip he was nowhere near deserving of. The false expectations of being able to print a debit card on the same day were one thing, but with this branch being one of the closest to me, I will absolutely NOT be keeping my account open if I have to come in and deal with this!

Oceanbank has been a great neighbor and ally to us since we opened in 2016. We've had a long standing relationship with this specific branch. And I can't stay we haven't had "disagreement" or "moments' over the years. But after tinkering with other banks (national and local) and moving funds around, we're very comfortable with OB and specifically the Downtown Branch. Laura has stuck around loyally in the area and she recognizes us as well as many other neighboring business owners, by name and by face. Doug & David have become a great addition to this bank the last couple of years and they have helped our relationship flourish. And lately we've been dealing with Jose Almedo, who has been super professional, efficient, and prompt on all business matters. I've been traveling for a few weeks and I've had non stop communication about various issues and all resolved promptly! With other banks (and even with OB) those would be issues that would require us running around for a couple of days to resolve.Highly recommended by one small business owner to the rest.
