The Barnacle Historic State Park in Coconut Grove is a hidden gem that offers visitors a peaceful escape in the heart of Miami. The park features a native forest leading to a well-maintained historic house, where guided tours provide insights into the area's rich history. Guests can enjoy the serene environment by strolling under the park's trees, relaxing on benches or picnic tables, or rocking on the veranda of the historic house. The Barnacle Society, a nonprofit organization, actively supports the park through various activities, including moonlight concerts and outdoor film screenings, making it a vibrant destination for families and nature lovers alike. Visitors appreciate the helpful staff, who share valuable information about local wildlife and Miami culture. The park is praised for its clean facilities and charming atmosphere. Although some feel there could be more development along the waterfront, such as a pier, many agree that a visit to The Barnacle is a must when in Coconut Grove. With a small entrance fee, it promises a delightful experience that should not be missed.
This is a great little park which has a lot of history within it. The house tour was well worth doing with a good detailed explanation of the house and contents from the rangers.

Beautiful historical place to visit with the family

This place is great. There's a native forest that you walk through to get to the building. The whole thing is well taken care of, but I would love to see them make more of the harbor-front. A pier maybe? Could be they don't want to make modifications for historical accuracy, but it felt like a wasted opportunity.
