Update: My bird passed away about 4 hours after his visit. Not sure if he was sensitive to the two medications he was given at the vet because I know birds can be sensitive or if there was an underlying issue but I think it was the medicine because it was just 4 hours after the visit I found him passed away. So heartbroken ?
OP: After my parakeet injured his little foot, I needed a vet asap and couldn’t find anyone that would take parakeets but this place did! Amazing staff, so friendly and professional. Tony Squawk is on his road to recovery. He even got his picture and name drawn on his medicine bag! Fantastic place and staff.

Banfield caused me to lose my best friend. My wife & I relocated from Central FL to Ocala back in January. Towards the end of March and into April, we started to notice that our dog Oliver was experiencing severe skin issues. My wife & I usually try natural methods first. We were scouring the internet looking for alternatives and solutions to help Oliver's skin. Prior to moving to Ocala, Oliver was in the best of health. Oliver is a chinese sharpei, golden retriever & chow mix who was turning 9 in September. After trying everything we could find on Amazon and online, we decided to make a vet visit because Oliver's skin was getting progressively worse. It was getting to the point that he was missing fur in areas that were severely dry. His skin was flaking and he was scratching himself relentlessly. On 07/02/2024, my wife and I took Oliver for his first visit for his skin issues but also for an ear hematoma that he recently developed. After going back & forth with the vet asking questions about his skin.. we were given a medicated shampoo & a flea preventative Simparico Trio. We were hesitant about the flea preventative as we have heard bad things about them however Dr. A (I believe, a woman vet) assured us that they were seeing great results with Simparico Trio. We asked every question we possibly could to ensure we were making the right decision for Oliver as we typically stay away from flea medications. That evening we went home and gave Oliver the medication which was suggested to be taken once a month. We then had a follow up visit on 07/16/2024, where my wife took Oliver back and we were told that he no longer had fleas and that the medication was working great. Oliver then also received his updated vaccines that day. On 07/26/2024, Oliver was acting his normal self until about 7pm when his mood suddenly changed. That evening, we noticed Oliver was restless. He wouldn't sit or lay down for more than a few minutes and then would get up, was a bit sluggish and wobbly. He drank some water, ate a bit of his dry food and then went to lay down. That evening we went to bed around 11:45pm after reaching out to multiple vets. The following morning at 4am.. we both woke up and Oliver was gone. Oliver had no prior health issues, was noted in Banfield's paperwork that he was in great health, was a beautiful dog with a great temperament etc. Following Oliver's passing, we went back to Banfield and requested a copy of his medical records.. upon our personal review we noticed that on 07/16/2024.. it was noted that Oliver still had fleas. However we were told that he did not by the vet when she came back into the room after taking him in the back. Banfield was completely heartless upon us requesting to cancel his monthly plan that we had just signed up for because Oliver had passed. Citing their cancellation clause which was never gone over or reviewed by Banfield to us when we signed up. They placed the blame on us for not reading through that. Upon attempting to cancel the plan, we were then advised that we owed Banfield roughly $600 for the services rendered because of their cancellation clause. In a time of grief, prior to even apologizing or offering their condolences.. we were told that they needed a payment to cancel his wellness plan although he had passed. After speaking to corporate, corporate advised me to reach back out to the local vet. I spoke to Devon who again did not show any remorse, simply kept stating that the services were rendered and for them to even consider anything, which again, they most likely wouldn't because the services were rendered and because of their cancellation clause, she would need an autopsy done of Oliver. Devon offered no remorse and instead was a bit argumentative with my crying wife about how there was no way the medication caused it. Autopsy did reveal that Oliver passed from toxicity of the flea medication and that he also had heartworms.. which Banfield had advised that his test was negative. We lost our family member prematurely becaus
