Really the worst airline ever end to end. Every time there is a problem there is no one who can fix it. Not my job man. Most unionized and contracted airline in the world. Completely broken. Forced loyalty for 30 years based on hubs. Finally can get free of the worst run airline, correction, the worst run business ever.

On my flight out I check my luggage since it is free as the flight is full. Airline took an hour to get checked luggage to pickup area. In my return flight I wanted to just carry on the bag as it was small enough. Employee refused to allow me to bring the bag on board. As I get on board the Airline advertises it has "new larger overhead storage".

American Airlines have a bad reputation for flight delays and cancellations. I experienced both of these for my recent trip to Colorado to visit my daughter. My flight out was cancelled and i was not notified. The flight back was delayed for a silly reason. So the negative reviews pertaining to cancellations and delayed flights are accurate. With that said, the actual flight was excellent. We flew First Class so my view might be biased. They provided a great meal and were very professional and courteous. Not sure I will fly with them again due to their poor reliability but I might try them but only if I can get First Class again. Have to drop them ONE star due to poor reliability.

7:10 am flight has been repeatedly rescheduled due to "mechanical issues" and is now estimated to depart at 6:00 pm. No weather issues and other flights all leaving on time. FLY ANY OTHER AIRLINE!!

I don't often complain. However, I've noticed a trend with American Airlines always delayed, canceled, or changes.. I've purchased our tickets months ago only to be downgraded to a class that I've worked hard to pay for. I understand there are other customers in worse situations. However, if it had only been a one-time thing, I would've not bothered... but I've tried a few more times after and have been completely disappointed. My fault for expecting to get what I pay for with this airline This will most certainly be the last time you have mine and my family's business. Disappointed.

What a complete nightmare! Let me first start by saying I have a true appreciation for airline workers, I can't imagine doing with they do. What I don't appreciate is being skipped over and lied to. Some background, I was traveling with a pretty large group so I expected long waits. The organizer of the trip had things organized to the minute, the whole trip was a success so our return trip should be a breeze...NOT! To begin, airline workers failed to pre print our boarding passes as promised. We stood there waiting for 80 boarding passes. To make matters worse, because I'm traveling with a band, that means a lot of cargo needed to be checked. A good 30-40 minutes go by and we finally have all of our boarding passes. Uhm, no we don't, I'm missing over 25 boarding passes still. To add insult to injury the last minute boarding passes they printed had no seat assignments. This meant we'd have to deal with yet another counter. No worries, we're making good time...that is until associates begin helping other large groups ahead of us. This made ZERO SENSE ABSOLUTELY NO REASON TO PUSH US ASIDE TO HELP ANOTHER LARGE GROUP. I obviously kept my mouth shut, being in Florida I felt it unwise to cause a scene. We watched this group of about 20 get their luggage checked ahead of us while our group stood patiently in line. At the rate this was going I immediately began to panic. We still had TSA and a whole ass shuttle train to get past. We decided to skip check in and go straight to TSA and carry on our luggage. With just 15 min left for our flight to begin boarding I was positive we'd miss our flight. Knowing we allotted plenty of time to avoid this made me sick. We get to TSA and by now all of our kids are scattered around. We just so happen to be on the side with the cute K9 which meant slower moving lines. Can it get any worse? YES! Remember, I still haven't been assigned a seat and according to my phone we have 5 minutes left to board. I finally arrive at my gate, Yippee another line. We were told if our group doesn't start boarding they'll have to start with stand by passengers. At first our director felt we needed to all board at once to ensure we all leave as one. But after all that talk about giving our seats away we began shuffling groups in. Ok, here's where it gets bizarre...I'm in line waiting to get my seat assigned. After giving my ID and watching the man type on his keyboard, he returns my ID and hands me my boarding pass. As I'm standing in line to board, I noticed on my boarding pass I still haven't received a seat assignment. Rather than lining up again I went straight to the counter to alert the man who helped me 1 minute ago. "Excuse me, you handed me my boarding pass with no seat assignment" I said. "No I didn't, I never helped you" he barked. You can imagine how stunned I am when I literally looked him in the face and told him good morning what a day it's been. I felt my rage boiling but I knew I couldn't get loud and crazy at the airport. Last thing I needed was to be escorted off by Florida officials. The other women at the counter quickly stepped in to assist because she on the other hand remembered me at the counter. After lots of typing I was finally assigned a seat. Traveling with American Airlines I've faced a lot of friendly and helpful employees but on this day (4/16) in Orlando Florida they were no where in sight. If your job stresses you out and you can't perform better yet meet standards of quality assistance than I suggest you take a job somewhere in fast food!

Worthless airline that cares nothing about what happens to their passengers. If they have no consideration for those buying tickets, do they care about safety? What is more important than those who have purchased a ticket! After all, without us they do not exist. So all trust is lost. Waste of human energy even writing about this airline. We need to go back to the days of competition between airlines. The days when Delta, Eastern, Continental, and US Air competed for our business. The Government needs to break up American Airlines.

What a good experience. Took a redeye flight across the country and everything went well. At one point we thought our luggage wasn't on our flight but it turned out to be at our Destination. The pilot AJ was exceptional and TJ the flight attendant gave my son a special pin. Very good experience he will never forget.

Is American airlines one of the worst? It seems to take the spot! The planes are always delayed lately. The staff needs some proper training. We waited at the gate to board to Los Angeles. We never heard any boarding announcements! Just saw people crowded near the gate so off we went. Even when we were closer you could barely hear the Group that they were calling. When we got our turn and showed the tickets the disgruntled ladies working here said they were not good. We got upset, but my husband asked politely what was going on, if we were still seated together. She barked back : aircraft swap! TMI! But somehow no one called us to let us know about the seating change. I know we just pay months ahead for our seats and pick them, but who cares? They need better and nicer people to work for them!

Never had any good experiences on this airline. Always flew DELTA in the very recent past UNTIL they expired all my frequent flyer miles during the Great Covid Depression. Still burned up about that. Now I'm flying American ... doesn't mean I want to.
