I am an Avis Presidents Club Member. Not only was I denied my complimentary two car upgrade but I was provided a vehicle with wear & tear and 70,000 miles. Not what I’m expecting from the Avis brand.

AVOID AVOID AVOID NIGHTMARE
Three weeks in advance of my trip, I reserved a gasoline-powered full-sized car from Avis located at 2125 W Landstreet Rd, Orlando, FL 32809. I arrived around 8:30 for an 8 am reservation and the local Avis owner indicated that he did not have the car I had reserved, and no similar cars were available. The only available cars were electric vehicles. My reservation was made specifically with a drop-off location in South Carolina – it should’ve been very clear that an electric car would not work. The local owner/manager indicated to me that he spoke with corporate, and they simply had not sent him the vehicle required for the reservation. It’s beyond me why the local owner would not have checked his reservations earlier in the week or at least the day before and attempted to resolve the issue. To run their business in this way is simply inexcusable.
What really infuriates me is that the local owner suggested I either take a Tesla and try to swap it at nearby Avis (MCO airport) or wait until 3 pm when he had returns coming in. He knew full well that sending me along with a Tesla to another location was kicking the can down the road. I opted to try my luck swapping out the Tesla at another Avis location not realizing the situation I was getting myself into. Immediately the experience was poor not only did the vehicle smell of marijuana and cigarettes, but it also was ONLY CHARGED TO 42% (despite being parked in his lot overnight). Things continued to deteriorate once arriving at MCO as they refused to swap me into a gasoline-fueled vehicle because I had not reserved at their location. They did at least swap me to another Tesla, at least this one was at 82% charge. We quickly realized we weren’t going to get nearly the advertised mileage for a Tesla...as we were using AC (June in Florida) and that uses up the battery as well. So we shut off the AC, sweated, and attempted to charge at a stop along our route, only to learn you have to use Tesla charging stations because Avis doesn’t include the adaptor in the vehicle for other charging stations. We stopped at another Avis in Titusville…no help. Finally, we made an online reservation for an electric vehicle in Daytona Beach. When we got there, however, surprise they didn't have a gas-powered car for us. The lady told us we could wait until 3 pm when returns were supposed to come in. While waiting, I charged the Tesla just in case - took a full 25 minutes to go from 39% to 100% at a supercharging station. We finally got lucky and a gas-powered car came in early at 2pm and the staff at the Daytona Beach location were helpful and honored my original reservation for gasoline powered vehicle.
BOTTOM LINE AVOID AVIS.
AVIS…DITCH OR DRASTICALLY REDUCE YOUR FLEET OF ELECTRIC CARS - MOST PEOPLE DON’T WANT THEM!!!!

I usually use the Maitland location but since I park my semi off obt more this will be my spot! Very friendly staff and down to earth. They didn’t have my vehicle so they upgraded me free of charge!

I recently made a reservation through Uber to rent a gas car, but when I arrived to pick it up, I was informed that they no longer offer gas vehicles, only electric cars, specifically Chevy Bolts. The staff member I spoke with was unhelpful and stated that there was nothing she could do, as this is simply how their system operates now. Apparently, they only receive electric cars, as they have chargers left over. This was extremely frustrating, as my reservation for a gas car was not honored, and no alternative solution was offered. I am very disappointed with this lack of flexibility and poor customer service.

The car I rented was dirty but I didn't complaint because it was the only one they had available at the moment. Then, I was charged 15% or the total cost of the rental in airport fees when I wasn't even coming from the airport and they are located about 25 minutes drive from the actual the airport . I was also charged $19 dollars and change for fuel fee, even when I returned the car full of gas. I guess this is the reason why the representative came out of this office running, grabbed the car keys and told me not to worry about it. That way I wouldn't have the chance to dispute the final bill. Oh, by the way... I called AVIS to complaint 2 separate times and they never answered the phone even after being on hold for 45 minutes. There is no direct line to this AVIS office listed anywhere. I rented the vehicle for $39 per day but after bogus charges it ended up being about $67 per day. Next time I will rent from TURO, I will not use this company again.

Never answer the phone I’ve been in that office in front of her I dial the number on purpose just to watch her ignore the phone no customer service. If yall think I’m lying try calling yourself. I have to walk in that office to get information the will never answer that phone. It’s terrible change your front desk staff to someone that’s more capable of simple answering a phone.

I don't think they were trained for customer service here... also they're close time is 4pm. I got here at 3:50 and they wouldn't assist me. Nonsense! I guess they just rather loose money than making it!

Stephanie and Wanda are the best! They assisted me in my rental and exceeded my expectations in customer service, and made everything smooth for me. They were very professional and courteous. I was given good pointers about the area, and they made my whole transaction and process very easy. I was worried cause I was not able to rent a car at 2 other Avis locations in the area because no electric car was available. I plan to be a return client because of them. Thank you, Stephanie and Wanda. YOU LADIES ARE THE BEST! 😀
