Can never find anyone at the desk. tried 2 days to speak to someone at desk. but it is always empty. Calling the number on the desk takes to customer care and they can’t help you. Wasting precious vacation time just standing by the desk.
They don’t allow after hours Car drop too.

Worst car rental experience I have ever had Do Not Rent From Avis. I had a reservation for 2 pm pickup The person who assisted me LIED I was waiting until my 2 pm pickup time she called me to the counter and told me I can check out now it was around 130 to 138 pm I specifically asked her if my rental will start at 2pm she said yes you'll be fine you can still drop off at 2pm. Ok so she rambled off some crazy directions about where to go get the car and of course I got lost and ended tight back at the counter. One of the other ladies who was new walked me to the garage of course I had to do my own visual inspection upon entering the car it was dirty inside from the previous renter they spilled coffee in the center console so I made my way out of the dark garage. Getting ready for my trip to GA I fill up the tank it was given to me on 1/2 tank Maintenance required comes on I called spoke to Cynthia she was new very nice she said bring it back I'll swap it out so this of course put a delay in my travel I got busy with work it was 330 ,I called to let them know I am on the way I spoke to the MANAGER HE WAS EXTREMELY RUDE he said if you're not her by 409 my employee is leaving. What the hell AVIS you inconvenienced me and my travel plans I had to drive 20 mins to your rental located to exchange a car the YOU should have serviced when you previous renter returned your vehicle and I didn't want to drive a long distance with a maintenance required light on Due yAVIS LYING Employee my rental started at 138 of course I was caught in traffic coming into GA I called customer service to let them know i will be 15 mins late since I was told I can return it at 2pm customer service said you have a 29 min grace period I arrived to the Avis parking lot at 229 of course Another RUDE A-- employee went out to check the car and drive it around to the back she returned about 10 mins later to tell me check out starts when she returns the car in the computer so of corse its going on 340 to 345 she saiid well its really late anyway the car was supposed to be returned at 138 She of course wanted to argue and go back and fourth all this time she still hasn't checked the car in. NOT ONLY was I overcharged gas wasn't reimbursed it was a NIGhTMare AVIS you ARE A NATIONAL COMPANY DO BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE IS POOR AS HELL I've rented from other low budget brand like ? and Sixt no problems what so ever AVIS YOU FAILED I Will NEVER RENT or buy a Car from you again my rental was supposed to be $138 I ended up with a charge for $356

Avis contacted me and refunded the amount they overcharged and apologized for the other inconveniences reported, which is why I changed my rating regarding this service. My experience renting a car with Avis was not the best. Firstly, I was at the store to pick up a car and I would have an upgrade because there wasn't a car in my category in the store, but another attendant arrived when I was signing the contract and tore up the contract and gave me the car in my category, then that the other attendant had already mentioned the upgrade. I was excited and then upset. And when returning the car, they charged me an extra daily fee claiming that I had returned it the other day and this was completely absurd, as I returned it on the scheduled day and time. Customer service discounted part of the charge but still charged me for late delivery, even though I was not late. I do not intend to rent with Avis again as I cannot trust this company.

Called to try and confirm my reservation and was put on hold for over 20 mins! Cancelled reservation because if I'm on hold that long I can only imagine how long it would take to actually get my car! What a waste of my time.

Good Experience once I figured out where to go :/
Was dropping off a car here and staying at the Portofino, I called the morning of like others suggested, was told the rental return was on the lower level of the parking. I google mapped the streetview for the hotel, didn't see a parking garage with levels, it just looks like a surface lot from google.
When we got to the resort I pulled into the side area for buses since I knew from reviews that the valet was not the right spot. I saw no signs for Avis, no clues of a lower level. The valet my wife spoke to mentioned something about going to the entrance and finding a lower level, I went all the way out, to the main road, found the employee entrance :) but no lower level. The valet and avis agent did offer to just deal with the return for us but I saw a few reviews where others had to fight an extra day charge and was like nahhhh.
Anywhoo, I called again from the street, (luckily they were great about answering the phone) I asked about the parking garage and finally found out that there's an underground parking garage hidden behind the parking ticket arm on the right just before you get to the valet :)
So if you have a rental return, you drive onto the Portofino property, follow the long winding driveway, then just as you see the resort there's a sign for "self parking" and the parking arm/ticket distributor on the immediate right. Go there, yes take a ticket, then meander your way down the level 1, it's not really marked, it's an adventure. Then finally along the wall you will see signs for Avis. And the stalls are numbered. I picked stall #16 but just find an open stall.
Take a pic of the stall, the fuel, the odometer and find the elevator just to the left a bit. I took the stairs :) They open up near the valet and the bus spot, welcome to the Portofino!
