All about the history of Orange County.
Interesting for children to learn and learn about the history of the state of Florida.
There are 4 floors of images that show what the beginnings of Florida were like, from the indigenous Seminoles and other tribes, the arrival of the settlers and their innovations in the 17th century and to the recent history of the state such as the Cape Canaveral area where the rocket launches are made...

After visiting theme parks, strongly recommend going down town to visit this historical building to study Central Florida history as it relates to Africa American history. This building is located next to the Main library downtown. Just outside is the July Perry Marker. Also, my next visit will be the Wells'Built Museum of African American History & Culture, in 2025.

My boyfriend and I visited on the 200th anniversary of Orange County and got to visit for free! We explored for about 3hrs and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Although some of the exhibits look as old as when the museum opened, they still hold up well! There's a LOT of local history to learn about in there + a current rotating exhibit [area] about the local underground music scene here in Orlando from the 80s to early 2000s (ends Feb. 2025). That was very interesting because sometimes I forget that Modest Mouse and Matchbox Twenty (to name a few) started here in town!
I definitely recommend making a visit. Bring the kids and learn everything you can about Orange County and Central Florida! There are some sections you won't want to miss. 10/10 Come support the local history center!

Super awesome experience! Our school booked a field trip and it was such a fun time! The History Center was super organized and clean. You can tell they take pride in the center. Everyone there was so kind and helpful. I would absolutely recommend! I certainly see our school going back year after year!

This is an amazing museum! I came with my family. My kids and husband and parents. Just as a sidenote, my husband is in a wheelchair and it’s completely accessible.Heather was at the front desk she was super help and nice. She told me all about the benefits of my pass and gave me a list of other locations.

I had a LOT more fun than I thought I'd have. I was there for the textile boy scout merit badge class and no, I'm not the boy scout. Hung around and ended up visiting ALL of the exhibits. I read all of the descriptions. The highlight? The 90s music exhibit on the 2nd floor. What a gem this place is. Keep up the great work.

This place was a hidden gem. Had some time to kill for a few hours. Based on some glowing reviews, I decided to make this my first stop at the trip. I spent so long taking everything in that I didn’t have any time left for any other excursion that day and still had to run out early. This place has a TON to read and look at.
It’s basically three floors and some change. And it happens to be right next to a food truck / event boulevard, at least on the Saturday that I went. I went at opening time on a Saturday and the place was pretty much empty and stayed pretty empty for the time I was there.
The place has a great selection. One of my favorite parts was the video interviews of modern day Indian reservations. There were some cool kid-friendly interactive parts around the museum.
It was truly a gem. Especially for the price. I learned a ton about local history in a way that felt like I had been there rather than read about it. There were great big murals, videos, artifacts from the time, and stories everywhere. I walked out feeling more connected than ever to the land that I lived my whole life.
Definitely make it over here if you’re a Florida native and have any interest at all in Florida history.

A gem of a museum in the heart of downtown Orlando! This museum was converted from the old courthouse and boats a small but incredibly well-done set of displays about local history, from the first people groups to recent developments of Orlando and the state of Florida. Admission was 8 dollars and well worth it - both for the experience and for preserving the museum. The facilities were organized, clean, and easy to navigate. The displays were lively, detailed, and creatively assembled. The staff was courteous and kind.

I was utterly mesmerized by this place. Despite growing up in Orlando, I had never visited until last month. I was a bit worried, taking my super energetic 1-year-old here, but it was practically deserted during the weekday and it was such a relief to let him wander around the exhibits, in the A/C, without fear of crowds or mischief. If you're looking for a cheap and less-anxiety-inducing alternative to the Science Center or SeaWorld, this is it. Parking was easy to find, and it is conveniently located near tons of restaurants and parks if you want to make a day of it. The exhibits themselves are stunning. Each floor has something new - from pioneer and Native American habitat exhibits to highwaymen paintings and models of Disney World. I adored seeing the orange groves, old Florida tourism rooms, and elegantly appointed courtroom where DNA was first used to get a conviction in 1984. It was more meaningful finding out my mother tried cases and was sworn in in that room, many decades ago. The museum is clean, spacious, large enough to keep you occupied but not claustrophobic, handicap accessible with elevators or stairs, and insanely fascinating. Everyone should go here at least once. I plan on getting a membership and returning often, it really was that enthralling.

Wanted to host a wedding here but got no response from the events manger, Stacey. She replied to my first email, but after trying to contact her 4 emails and 1 voicemail later (1 month) I gave up.

Great exhibits. Pretty large and 4 floors. You can easily spend 3 hours or more here. For 8 bucks a ticket definitely a steal.

Cute history museum in the heart of downtown. The museum is walking distance from Lake Eola. The girl at the front counter greeted us cordially and w a smile as soon we arrived. The Museum has 4 floors and it's basically a mini simplified version of the State of Florida history. Each floor has an individual theme. Very clean, organized presentation, and quiet. Only giving it 4 out of 5 because I think it lacks a little interaction and attractiveness in order to engage the crowd. Will definitely return if a new exciting exhibition is on display.

It is closed from December 22 to 25 but they don't make it clear and no one answers the phone, so you realize when you arrived
