The shuttle bus pick up never arrived and I was forced to pay extra for an Uber. There was a long line with angry customers. The AC was not working in the office as we waited. Was pretty much forced to pay liability per day extra fees. I have waived this in other car rentals. At least the offered the car upgrade. That is why I'm giving 2 stars. Next time I will have less hassle at hertz or Avis

Had a book a car for a short term due to car damage during trip. The repairs took longer than expected so I needed to extend my rental for one extra day. I was charged $249.00 for a one day rental. The worker at the counter apologized for the high rate. If the worker had told me the cost, I would have declined and rebooked through my provider. I told him this was a ripoff and I mean it! Last time using this business unless they make some serious changes.Update: I have still not received another company response since this initial posting.

Never rent from Payless. Unexplained up-charges that ended up costing me double the rate Ibooked return of phone calls when we questioned the final bill, they cold not explain the charges and immediately sent it to a collection agency.

What a mixed bag. Inconsistent dealings with each rep. Policies unknown. Most of all, NO CUSTOMER SERIVE AFTER HOURS! *Totally unavailable by phone and problem solving minimal to non existent. Options on website do not address many issues. BUT THEY WILL CHARGE YOU AND PENALIZE YOU FOR NOT BEING ABLE TO SOLVE IT BECAUSE OF THEIR INEPTITUDE. I Could never recommend to anyone I care about. Very poor communication with foreign reps. Language barriers. *WARNING. I’ll be writing this everywhere I can to spare folks the trouble. I’d love a call from a superior to discuss. But not offered that option. If one rep tell you one thing. DO NOT COUNT ON IT.

This place is a scam. They use 3rd party rental websites like carla and when you go get your car they tell you they don't have any car for you. They then tell you it's going to be a lot more to get a car.

I am so thankful for Jennifer and Jaime who helped me several months ago at the DFW airport in Dallas, Texas! You both were so amazing, kind, and professional! I was stranded and you both helped me to get a rental car at a decent price at the last minute! It's taken me months to finally write the review and say thanks but you're both appreciated!

I don't know who's in charge of cleaning the cars but someone just let one go by. The inside was so dirty cut marks all over the dash above glove box finger nail polish on passenger side dash. And on the steering wheel horn area.Rubber around door was coming off. Rubber around trunk was cut and was falling off. Just remember the name "PAYLESS" you will get the the name. LESS. The counter person Bella I believe was her name was very helpful. She told me that the insurance that's offered when getting the car online is worthless. She told me to call and cancel and get a refund.

if i could give no stars, i would. had a very bad experience. first the car they gave us already had tire pressure issues about an hour after we got it. then when you call for roadside assistance, no one answers after waiting for 20 mins. called roadside assistance many times with no answer. after another call waiting for almost 20 mins was told to just put air or have it fixed somewhere. when returned, was promised they would refund us for the expense for air and would not bill us, we still got a bill. called their customer service and was told will give us a discount, refunded us but aftrr a month, i got the bill back on the credit card. never going to use them again.

Very bad treatment. In the future I will not rent. My story is that i rented a car, and after a month, the amount of 400 dollars was deducted for no reason, and they do not have a customer service email. I advise you not to use a Visa card with them unfortunately not eligible. It's was in airport was Chicago 10/0

Beyond frustrated with Payless I waited in line for 2 hours and 21 minutes. I am then given keys to a piece of crap car while others drive away in beautiful cars. I was horrified when I saw the car and did not want it but also did not want to wait another 2 plus hours I tried to reach Payless for 9 days with no success. I paid $656.95 and Payless is offering me a 1 day rental as compensation for the embarrassment I had to endure. Oh and to boot they only had 2 people working there. My advice to you rent from someone else.

We rented through this company because they were the cheapest price for our week vacation 6/15-6/22 last week in Orlando Florida. I opted out to have the rental company refuel after we dropped the car off because they charge you a fortune. I topped off the tank to full 3.3 miles from Orlando International Airport where I was supposed to drop it off at. I now have an extra $108 charge that the Payless customer service representative claims is “fuel charges.” I also would like

I topped off the tank to full 3.3 miles from Orlando International Airport where I was supposed to drop it off at. I now have an extra $108 charge that the Payless customer service representative claims is “fuel charges.” I also would like to point out I rented a Jeep Compass that has a 13.5 gallon tank. So even if I dropped it off bone dry on empty that would have to mean your charging over $8 a gallon. Regardless the tank was full or at least 3.3 miles from being full. I have to now prove with a credit card receipt that I put gas in the car before the airport via email and they should respond back to me in 3-5 business days. Literally worst car rental company. Would never rent again.

The counter closes at 10:00 p.m., so if you arive after 10:00 p.m. you have to go over to Avis or Budget. But they never told us that. And their customer service closes at 10:00 p.m. so when we arrived at 10:08 p.m., it sucked to be usas there was nobody there to help us and nobody answered the phones. The Avis line literally had 100 to 125 people in it waiting for their cars. I'm rating them poorly because of the lack of customer service, the lack of hours, the lack of communication. When we went back the next day, George helped us out dramatically. So plus one star for the customer service provided the following day.

You've honestly got to be kidding me. Not only was the wait to get the car painfully long because the "computer kept crashing" but the fun really started when I needed to extend it. I called the number that IS ON MY RENTAL CONTRACT they give you. 1-800-527-7000. Literally this is the number you should call if you need anything because it is printed right there on the Payless contract. Interestingly that number goes to Budget and none of your information is recognizable...even though they are sister companies? I gave them the number from my key, my phone, name, credit card...nothing. Seriously????? After 25 minutes the car I am driving apparently doesn't exist. I gave up and googled Payless Orlando Airport. My first call the system said "there is an overwhelming number of calls. We cant help you." and hung up. I kept calling. I finally got a man who said he could extend it but he could NOT take the toll pass off. So I have to pay for that every single day of extension. He also told me there is a $10 extension fee. FOR WHAT? Honestly, this company is like a bad SNL skit of a crap company. They are a caricature. The slightly lower rates are not worth it. Truly rent from any other car company but this one.
