Be aware! This company is underhanded and deceitful. We rented a car from them mid November and were all booked and ready to go for a reasonable price. When we were doing the final paperwork the lady at the counter asked us if we wanted "standard" coverage or to upgrade to a better coverage. The way she presented it made us think that it just came with the car. NO cost was discussed. When we were signing the paperwork the only charge that was on the paperwork was the $40 for tolls which was fine. We then noticed as we were almost to our destination that the price had gone up by $110. My wife called them and they refused to refund us the money. We feel as if the company stole from us and refuse to make it right. If you want to be ripped off and have your money stolen go here. They will lie, not show you full documation, omit details and upcharge you without telling you. Taking advantage of people to make a quick buck is a horrible business practice. DO NOT RENT A CAR HERE. Go somewhere else!!

I got in very late there was no one in line so I waited for the person to be done so I could be attended to next. I was told I had to move over to the left 10 feet before I would be attended. I moved over 10 feet they called me up to the desk a little bit petty I think so then the gentleman was helping me he added the option of returning with a gas tank at any level did not ask. He told me it was included in the rental. I ended up paying for that not aware it was late and I was exhausted. Then he tried to tell me that I had to buy liability insurance, and I specifically asked is it required by the state of Florida he answered yes I still questioned it and that he handed me a paper saying see here it is and then I pointed to the top of the paper and it said optional and I said it's optional and he said yes it is. They were just lying to my face, trying to charge me on everything and being dishonest about it, I went with thrifty because being a nationwide company I expected better I will not be using them again

We recently book our rental for a week at MCO location. I have booked several times with Thrifty, we have always had a good experience. I encourage Thrifty to look at all my previous rental with Thrifty. However, this time when we arrived at MCO to pick up our rental, I understand it was late in the evening, everyone is tired. Yes we did agree to get the additional cost for the toll fee pass. I i understand the agent had to offer additional protect for the customer so we are protected howeverI did declined ALL the additional insurance protection and take on the risk. but however the agent found a way to slip/add the additional liability protection to our bill. They asked me to see my insurance which i did show. I actually showed my Insurance policy which is had liability insurance on rentals. So, why would I get liability insurance from the rental company when I already have on my current insurance policy….that sounds ridiculous. I totally get it you can say “I should of read it before I sign anything but at the same time it should be in good faith when a customer says I decline all additional protection nothing is added to my bill. I guess this is how you up sell on customer. Look at all my previous I have NEVER taken any additional protections. look forward to hear from you.

UPDATE: my credit card investigated and reversed the charges. This was a rental for July and yesterday 11/26/23 Thirfty sends me a bill for the charge that was reversed. Explain to them about the employee that lies and scams people and all they can say is you sign the contract. Again, you don't get a copy unless you sign it than it's just a receipt with abbreviations that you don't know what you just signed but he tells you that money is on hold and you will get credited when you return the car. DONT SIGN ANYTHING AND DONT BELIEVE HIM. This will be reported to the Better Business Bureau.

We waited 40 min for our pickup after the check-in booth for our vehicle staff. A number of people that arrived after us got their vehicles before us. We would have brushed that off however was a bit uneasy with not having a car walk through to discuss any damage and sign together with the company. We also were asked if we wanted liability insurance to which we said no we don't need it and when we signed we were told a deposit for the car. We went and discussed when we returned our car and the agent did not seem surprised this had happened. They shared a review process and we're unable to refund our cc due to us having returned our car. We were asked if we signed paperwork which we didn't we had signed electronic when we had our names to a car and were told it was a deposit. We're very unhappy with what has occured and are waiting for reimbursement now and to discuss with management. Definitely not forthcoming hiding fees. This review will be changed if there's ownership by the company for what occured and financial reimbursement.

My wife and I ended up getting charged 3x more than our online booking. First off the attendant was very rude and insulted my wife to our faces. He implied she was dumb for accidentally booking an electric car. This was in fact a lie for we pulled up the booking and it said no such thing. The attendant then told us he would help us out by giving us a 50% discount. Instead he ended up charging us for an upgraded car without telling us and we ended up paying 3x more. We walked out the door and saw the receipt, then immediately turned around to go back to the desk, only to find that the man was gone.Awful experience and I’m still trying to figure out how to talk to any sort of management about this scam of an incident.Never go here. A bunch of liars and thieves at the counters.

Picture the scene, you have pre paid, your have done online check in and everything you can for a smooth rental car collection that we have done every year for 10 years (tho never with Thrifty before). You get off the 9 hour flight, smoothly through customs and baggage in record time, and arrive at the shared Dollar and thrifty desk where there are two agents working, and a queue of approximately 60 people (not including the family, friends, kids all sitting around) waiting to collect cars. The agents don't want to make eye contact, they have to go through the selling policy and try to up-sell, neither are they in a hurry.TWO HOURS later we finally get to the front to be served, thankfully because i had done online checking and license checks etc there was nothing to try up-sell and i made my way to pick up my "luxury" saloon. This turned out to be a beaten up 2016 dodge charger 4 door, the seats are stained, there is not a panel on the car without a mark or scratch, bits of trim are having off, its this or nothing. So if you want THE cheapest, poorest, pick up experience (bearing in mind i travelled in the quiet period of September!), coupled with the worst quality vehicles i have ever seen in 25 years of visiting Florida and renting cars, then this is THE place to rent from.Granted i saved money on Alamo or Sixt, BUT it comes at a price i am not prepared to pay ever again with huge queues, ill mannered staff, terrible cars with lots of minor damage.

Do I have the option to give them no stars? This place would be the first to truly deserve it. It was my first time renting a car from Thrifty, and I can confidently say it will be my last. The agents at the desk were consistently rude to every customer waiting in line. Despite having six customers ahead of me, it took them a full hour to process them. To make matters worse, one customer got understandably frustrated due to the long wait, and in response, they outright refused to rent a car to that person. Is this how you treat a customer? In this instance, THRIFTY was in the wrong, and the customer was right to be upset. To add insult to injury, I had signed up for a damage waiver, but the agent slyly included passenger insurance without my consent. This is not only unethical but tantamount to theft.I have never encountered such a situation with any other rental company.I would strongly advise against renting from Thrifty and would recommend others to do the same.

Landed at 11:30 pm and proceeded to the Thrifty counter. We were pleased to see that the line was moving fairly quickly. Unfortunately, the reason things were moving so quickly was that the desk agents were simply telling people that they DIDN’T HAVE ANY CARS. I thought we would be OK since we had a reservation. The reservation meant nothing and they suggested we come back tomorrow. No other remedies or offers of compensation were offered. I’m not sure how his company can be allowed to continue to operate in the Orlando airport??At this point, it was after midnight. We were at the Orlando airport an hour and a half away from our accommodations with no car. Fortunately, we were able to get a car from Alamo quickly and easily.

If I could have given 0 stars I would have.We picked our car up after landing at Orlando,we were left to pick our own vehicleWould strongly recommend to video the car before leaving the rental place. The car had lots of scratches on,it was dark but took videoThe next day when it was daylight we could see the car was filthy inside,it hadn't been valeted, dirt all over the carpet area and dirt on the back of the seats, hole in the roof at the very back from where the air-conditioning was. There was no sat nav in the car either. On four occasions the car wouldn't start when we were leaving our destinations but after five to ten minutes it would start, then on the fifth occasion after we had stopped for breakfast the car would not start at all,we had booked experiences in Tampa for our son in laws birthday but we were stuck in a car park. We phoned the customer service number but this did not work,we tried every number on the sheet and not one would work. Googled the company and spoke to a lady who was not helpful at all!! She told us to take the car back to the rental company, she didn't get that we were stuck in a car park with a car that wouldn't start, after 10 minutes she said that she would send someone out to us and then we would have to take the car park to Orlando airport to get a different car,we asked for a car to be brought to us but she said that couldn't be done, the roadside assistance man turned up who was really nice,he looked at the battery and said it was done,he said we shouldn't have been given the car with a battery like that.My husband then had to drive 40 minutes to the airport to take the car back, all our plans for the day were ruined, instead of having a nice birthday day we have lost out on all the money that we have paid out for experiences and it has ruined our day!! Our party of eight have had to sufferCustomer services attitude was disgusting. We paid alot of money for the cars. We have hired cars three times before from other companies and never ever experienced such bad customer service before,we will definitely never use this company again, avoid at all costs.

What a horrible experience! There were about 20-25 people ahead of me in line and 2 agents working. After waiting for over an hour, I finally made it to the counter and specifically told the agent I didn't need additional insurance. When I looked at my credit card statement I was shocked to see and additional charge of $151. They added insurance anyway. Yes, I signed the agreement but after waiting that long I was in a rush and didn't see that. It's a scam. It's also very clear to me why this company has so many bad reviews. What they do may be legal (I did sign after all) but it's so unethical. I will never use Thrifty again and if you're reading this, you shouldn't either.

Reserved a car with Thrifty when I made airline reservations. Arrived at Orlando International Airport around 10:30pm. When we got to Thrifty we were told the mid sized SUV was an electric car. Unfamiliar with electric cars and the area we asked for a gas car. The price went from $550 to $978 for 7 days and that price was discounted $300. The agent told us we had to purchase insurance because it was the law in Florida. In addition to insurance there was a $15/day charge for my husband to drive because I rented the car and I wound the only driver! He insisted we purchase the toll pass for an additional $95 even though we weren't leaving the Orlando area and gas would be cheaper if we brought the car back empty because stations near the airport were more expensive. He informed us that he could not make changes to our reservations but we could cancel. Need I say we left Thrifty without a car. Tried to make online reservations for several other rental car agencies but was unable to get a car. We called for an Uber to get to our hotel. Once at the hotel I made reservations with Alamo. I went back to the airport the next day and got the car we reserved at the price quoted online, in and out in less than 15 mins! I was asked one question, and that was "do you want to add anything to your vehicle rental?" So much for the law that required me to purchase additional insurance! They didn't even ask for proof of insurance. Horrible experience to start your vacation with Thrifty.

After waiting over an hour in line at Orlando International Airport, I get to the counter and am told my reservation was cancelled, and I had confirmed it while waiting in line. Of course, they will not honor the price I had originally, and I have to pay almost $100 more. But the agent tells me he will put the insurance on for free for me. Then I get the receipt at the end and I am charged for the insurance, and when I call them, Thrifty tells me I have to speak directly to an agent at the airport. Not to mention the car was holding 2" of water in the the console and cup holder and smelled awful. Never again will I go the cheap route as it ended up costing me more than if I would have went with a better company. NEVER AGAIN!
