Yesterday my son had a serious problem: his bike broke on the way to school. We are currently without a car due to an accident, and the bike is his only means of transportation. Anyone who lives in Miami knows how unrealistic it is to rely on buses or walking.

I searched everywhere for the part and found it available only through Specialized in Hollywood, about 17 miles from our home. I was already trying to figure out an almost impossible plan involving multiple Uber rides and transporting the bike partially disassembled.

Then I called Big Wheel Bicycles — and that’s when I met Samuel.

Samuel told me it would be best to see the bike first to confirm the part and check its condition. I explained our entire situation: the accident, being without a car, and the bike being my son’s only way to get around. Without hesitation, Samuel offered to bring the part to us, charging only for the Uber. At first, he mentioned coming after 6pm, but when I explained the bike shop would be closed, he immediately said he would try to come earlier.

We spoke around 1pm — and by 3:30pm he was already at our home.

He replaced the broken part (the derailleur hanger), aligned everything perfectly, checked the bike thoroughly, and when he noticed the rear derailleur will also need replacement, he found a temporary solution so my son could continue riding safely for the next few days. On top of that, he honestly recommended other bike shops closer to us, saying they would be more convenient since we don’t have a car — even though they are technically competitors.

Samuel charged only for the part and the Uber. When I asked about labor costs, he didn’t charge anything. He went out of his way, solved our problem, and gave us peace of mind during a very stressful moment.

It’s rare these days to find someone so kind, honest, ethical, and genuinely human. Samuel was truly a blessing and the light of our day.
I will absolutely work with him again whenever I have the chance, and I will recommend him and Big Wheel Bicycles to everyone I know.
