Horrible follow up from the office manager. Despite multiple phone calls and certified letters zero care.

Dr. Did not know how to give me a proper prescription. I needed prism lenses. Sent in a technician who shoved large glasses into my brain shunt after being warned it was there and after 15 mins. Still couldn’t get it done. They 3 drs. gave me 3 different prescriptions and the optical store said that there were a lot of errors. I was there for several hrs. And got nothing accomplished. Just awful.

Dr Donaldson is fantastic it’s her surgical coordinator who sucks. When I went to my last appt I was told she will call me to schedule laser surgery. I waited two weeks and then called another two times. After the third call I got a call back. I was supposed to get laser surgery April 13th but had to reschedule due to moving the next day I have called twice so far and no answer back. This is frustrating and is annoying to have to make sure you don’t miss the call. I love Dr Donaldson

When our brother informed us he was moving back to South Florida, for a more viable medical infrastructure, we were skeptical but supported his decision. However, as he learned in 2022 and again in 2023, that more viable medical infrastructure no longer exists. Bascom Palmer scheduling staff provided our brother false and misleading information pertaining to his insurance coverage. Be warned. Although the medical staff is very good, the financial staff is deplorable, to borrow a word from a previous presidential election. What, if any, laws were broken here? Only time will tell. In the interim, we are asking our friends at the VFW and AARP to flag this company. And yes, they are company that is in business. Such is modern healthcare.

Ms. Stephanie McMillan (director) was very helpful and made my process smooth at the site. The staff was helpful and the customer service was EXCELLENT!!! Everyone was friendly, approachable, and knowledgeable! It's the best service I have received at an eye institute to date. The other reviews do not take into consideration all that is done there and how they strive to make things happen and all their customers happy. Check them out!

I don't understand how this hospital is the #1 in the US. I've been going to the Plantation and Miami Hospital multiple times this year for my daughter's and my eye conditions. The waiting time is always 4 to 5 hours; there is no respect for patients. The service from the people at the front desk is the worst I ever experience in a hospital. On top of that, the surgical coordinators don't provide any support; my procedure was denied by the insurance company twice because Bascom Palmer didn't send the proper documentation (by the way, the same procedure was approved at another doctor's office). The very rude Surgical Coordination didn't provide any solution or recommendation, not even a wiliness to make it right and attempt to send the documents the insurance is asking for. She said the doctor would contact me, but one week later, no one contacted me.

Although the medical staff has been more than excellent, the administrative services are a nightmare. Patients (thinly masked in ill fitting surgical masks provided by the facility) are checked in and then crowded together like cattle in a relatively small area, waiting for inordinate periods of time beyond their stated appointment time, without any concern for Covid-19 considerations or for patient actual appointment times. Today when I arrived I saw a mob scene sitting shoulder to shoulder, waiting for an available check-in representative. The appointment scheduling system shows a total disregard for patients and their safety. There is no excuse for overbooking that causes up to 2 hour delays before being seen by a physician. Today I had a 12:30 appointment. I was briefly seen at 1:30 by a technician. Then I was returned to the crowded waiting area to await the doctor. At 2:05, some 1-1/2 hours after my appointment time, I inquired about the anticipated additional wait time and was told there were two (2) patients before me. I did not choose to return to the narrow overcrowded corridor where other folks were similarly situated for an indeterminate wait as I was expected back at work before the end of the day! Instead I told a staff person I was leaving and would not return. This was my post-surgery check-up - an important appointment. This is a healthcare facility where the administrators apparently don't care about your health.

RUDE on the phone. Bad phone system (IVR). You cannot get an appointment at all, especially in Plantation, except for five (5) months out BUT they are more than happy to send you to their emergency care in Miami at any time. So easy just drive to emergency care in Miami. Sorry this feels like a scam. And yet they are rated #1.

I visited Bascom Palmer for a post surgical follow up. The medical staff, as always, was outstanding. But I'm not going back due to the Facility's disregard for patient safety and time. I exited the elevator to the 3rd floor and was immediately appalled at what I saw. Typically overbooked whenever I visited the facility, but this time it was a nightmare of overbooking and overcrowding, with a large number of people sitting almost shoulder to shoulder in the check-in area for 15 or more minutes, just waiting to be processed for check in. All were wearing the loosely fitting surgical masks dispensed by and required by the facility. (I had to remove my N95 as I could not wear 2 masks and still breathe) Following check-in, people were sent to one of 2 narrow corridors, seated again close to others, where they waited for up to an hour (or more) to be seen by a technician. Following that wait, patients were redirected to a different, equally crowded corridor to sit and await their physician visit. I arrived at 12:20 for my 12:30 appointment and by 2:05 had not yet seen my physician. I was told there were still 2 patients ahead of me. Concerned about such prolonged exposure to so many other folks in view of rising Covid-19 rates, I left -- having not seen my physician. Now I either need a new appointment here or with a new medical office to ensure my surgeries (2) went ok. Totally unprofessional of the Facility's booking staff.

been trying to reach the Plantation office for weeks. No one answers, or return calls or emails. I called spent over an hour on the phone with a service coordinator who promised to send an email confirming my request for virtual consultation but never received the mail. Very disappointed with the frontline service given that they came highly recommended.

Had glasses made here, second time here about not seeing properly with them, long wait times for something that should not happen at a reputable place of business.

Only doctors I trust with my precious eyesight. Parking is easy,, wait time not bad,, staff friendly but even without those, I would come here for the expertise. The doctors are not trying to sell anything, they don’t work on commission. They are the best of the best.

I understand covid restrictions. Having to sit in the parking lot for 5 hours because I'm not allowed in with the person who has the appointment. That is unacceptable. We will be going to a different eye doctor you just lost our business.
