“Been a contractor who has been using SW's products for 25 years. They have paint ranging for apartments all the way up to industrial. So, they have paint for every purpose. However, if you use one paint designed for different surface and it fails, then it's your fault. This is the main reason ppl find fault with SW.

I have yet to have a product failed when I used it for it's designed purpose. Some ppl will buy a paint designed for a wall or even lesser grades used for apartments, ceilings or samples and put it on trim, exterior walls, decks, fences, etc. Seen ppl put waterborne over solvent based or metal. Exterior wall paint on a porch or pool deck. Painting the side in direct sun. Not knowing when to add extenders or thin the product to make up for fast drying times due to temps. My favorite being not priming over raw material because the paint said self priming, etc, etc. I could go on and on about the ignorant things ppl have done then want to be mad at SW.

The key is not to be cheap with yourself. It's not going to save you much by going with the lower grade products. Most of the cost of the job is in labor. I convince ppl to upgrade all the time because it only costs them a few hundred bucks for an entire house to get a better product that will last twice as long. Are you really going to be thinking about a few hundred bucks when the exterior needs to get painted again in 7 years or so when it could have lasted you 20. You always get what you pay for.”
