Sunken Gardens is a beautiful, scenic, and cool place, a must-see remnant of old Florida. It is a small but very beautiful garden with a rich history, featuring trees dating back to the early 1900s. The garden offers so much greenery, natural beauty, and a tropical rainforest vibe with a beautiful variety of plants, tropical trees, flowers, and animal life. Visitors can see flamingos, macaws, swans, and other exotic birds, along with tortoises and many butterflies. There are many mini waterfalls and ponds which enhance the beauty. The winding sidewalk guides visitors through the well-maintained gardens. It is a gorgeous place for a wedding or special event. The staff treats the wildlife like family. A history center shows the garden's story, including a love story about its founding. There is a cute gift shop with merchandise. The garden is connected to the Children's Museum, has restrooms, is dog-friendly, and allows outside food with nice sitting places. A visit typically takes one to three hours and is highly recommended, especially for photography. Note that the gardens close during lightning.
No one told me they had a kookaburra. I was elated about it.
