Was told that by the manager Steven that I could not use a corporate L&D stipend since it was virtual card. Was not given a solution to purchase online or any other directive just that they can not do it at this location. Would have rather put the books back than process transactions.
Just the week prior I was able to do a purchase with a different Barnes and Noble with the same stipend card. Management at other location was pleasant and customer service centered while the Sarasota location and its management and staff did nothing to try to be helpful or even provide another option.
Being a Barnes and Noble customer and member holder; I was extremely disappointed with the lack of service and attention and a repeat customer.
Won't be using this location even though it's more convenient than other locations.

Love the layout of the store and selection of books and merchandise, and the baristas are often nice as well as some of the booksellers. However, some of the staff can be rather rude and seem annoyed that you’re there as a customer. I’ve been going here for years, but lately just have been feeling unwelcome, very sad. Plus it’s rather expensive, the store is better for browsing than anything!

You can get lost in the aisles of this bookstore! They have a great variety, and the staff recommendations led me to some real gems. It’s a cozy spot, though parking can be tough.

I had found a DVD movie here that I had looked everywhere for, and lo and behold, I found it here plus it was 50% off to boot....So it was a very good day for me...The check out lady was very nice and personable which I really like in a box store ...I definitely will be back.....

Love being able to check out books with a cafe mocha. We purchase a lot of books from the Sarasota store. Stopped going to the one in Brandon and Tampa.
