I really want to give a shout-out to Doug and his staff at Discount Computers. They custom built me the laptop of my dreams about 2 years ago. Since then, they continue to offer me personalized support for any upgrades, questions, or problems that occasionally arise. Doug is amazing and brilliant and a pleasure to work with. This is one of those amazingly small family businesses that offer personalized support and services that we must support and appreciate, or they will be gone. I honestly dont believe I would have received a better product or service at any "big box" retailer... most definitely not! Stop in and ask for Doug if you're interested in building an affordable computer system based on your individual needs with a guarantee of top-notch personalized support. Support small businesses, or they will dissappear!

Visiting from the west Coast and left half of my laptop's power cord at home! Not only did they have what I needed, they had multiple options and were affordable. Wonderful people who know what they're doing and take care to take care ?

Moved to FL in 1997 at that time I needed to find a reliable computer store that not only sold various units but maintained them as well. And as an additional bonus they give free lessons for everything they sell be it computer or software. Found Discount Computers in early 98 and have been a customer ever since I wouldn't consider going any where else. Even though it means I drive from Englewood to Sarasota, FL some 55 miles round trip.

Outstanding products and service. Absolutely the best computer that I’ve ever had…. Fast and as advertised. Once Doug explained why his personally designed computers were better than any thing I could purchase from Costco I had to try one. He was correct. Solid state and designed for my type of usage. Locally operated computer store where service is their way of doing business. This is exactly what you won't get from the big box retailers, except for pricing. I won't shop anywhere else for my computer needs.

What an amazing little business! Owner helped me out with my power to board issue and is so friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this place to any one with a custom or regular pc. He really treats you so well.

I have been in here 3 times and I have found them to be knowledgeable, extremely helpful and very courteous. When I have a computer issue I am there and knowing once I walked in the door it is going to be okay. Highly recommend.

I heard these people are very knowledgeable about computers, but I did not have mine serviced by them. It was just a bad customer service experience. It's not actually helpful to have a group of people say random things to you like "turn your computer on and do xyz" instead of listening to the customer. If the British lady (?) could listen to people she would have understand my computer doesn't turn on, so her advice was moot. Very frustrating experience. I called in advance about my laptop and was told to bring it in, then all the staff acted like I was crazy for bringing it in. Within one minute of coming in the door they told me they can't do anything for it. If you only service laptops with easily removable batteries, maybe advertise that? Or tell people on the phone when they call about laptop repair? I can mail something back to the manufacturer or take something back to the store myself. The lady there came off so condescending. She actually said to me "see that green part? That's the motherboard. That's like the brains of the computer". I'm not 6 years old you and don't have to talk to me like I'm an idiot and give me a lesson on motherboards. Luckily, there's another shop across the street.Edit to add: I can't reply in this thread but the response below from the store asked me to update. It's a few hours later and my computer is working fully. I'm typing this on it right now! I brought it to a different shop, on Gulfgate just across 41. My laptop was definitely very banged up, I know, and to be fixed I needed someone willing to open it up and fix the connections. I'm fortunate it was fixable and only $150.I think it was just a case of the wrong repair job for a particular shop, and needing to find the right place, where they maybe do this particular thing more often. I guess not everywhere opens up the kind of laptop I have that is sealed all around the battery, etc.

Discount Computers is my "go to" computer store and support. Over the past 10 years, Discount Computers has custom constructed several computers for my wife and myself to our great satisfaction.These machines have been extremely reliable and trouble free, noticeably more so than computers we had purchased previously off the Internet and in "big box" stores. Very important for us because we use our computers for hours every day. The free instructions and post sale support have been extraordinary as well.It is no surprise Doug and Amelia have been in business for over 25 years. They long ago earned our trust.
