They had the best rates when I was shopping around and it was my first time ever renting from them. I went ahead and signed up to become a gold memeber. Reserved my car, accepted/declined all the extra stuff. Staff was friendly. When I went insidethe airport the gentleman said, they already had my car waiting for me with the outside staff memeber. She told me the car I had and if that was okay, in which I said yes. Went to my car and took all necessary pictures of and dings/scratches as the link ask to. I was out in about 15 mins. Return was just as simple, as they have someone outside to let you know where to drop off your car.
Update September 30th. I had to take stars back because the medium sedan 33 mpg I reserved for is not what I got. Instead it was an smal SUV which I just figured it was around the same 33 mpg. Boy was I wrong! It had to be around 23-25 mpg. My next rental I will double check the vehicle and mpg before I drive off

The rental agent did not explain the multiple add on charges. Total charges were about $200 higher than expected. I have no idea what they were for though I did agree to the CDW. Will not use Herz again.

Hertz Rental at Sarasota Airport is friendly. The only draw back is the car return to the airport terminal they don't offer handicap wheechairl assist to the main building. The Delta airline or any other airline do not come to the car rental return to pick you up either. As a solo traveling and require assistant when I flying and traveling - I struggle with walking my luggage and a cane walking distance especially in the open enviroment area and having to watch every step outside for uneven areas or cracks or holes. I had to do some conversation at the departure drop off to see if I could get at least someone from my airline to meet me at least at the baggage/ car rental area to assist me in the building to check in for the rest of the flight. I did and thankful they had a skycap just got there as i walked into the door . I realize it is a small airport but I am thankful they assist me to my car rental area arrived to get into my car. Needless this needs to be improved at this airport on returning car and airlines needs greater improvement to help with handicap assistant upon returning on a flight.. A huge gap! These new car with technology upgrades should have simple quick refence items to help customer get situated to where the controls are and how to quickly access them. Just putting them into gear sometimes is challenging to lococate or how they operate... I might get the silmar car but nothing is the same place...or the same way.

Scam a car more like it
Ok.. we had a family emergency.
We live in Tx need to fly to FL
Not knowing how long we rented a car for several days. A family member had a car we could use. So.. we returned the car to Hertz... They still CHANGED US FOR DAYS AHEAD THAT WE WOULDN'T HAVE THE CAR
AND THEY COULD STILL RENT IT TO ANYONE.
Update..... Hertz got in touch with us, they heard what we had to say and agreed.
They reversed the changes and apologized for the miscommunication.
Thank you Hertz..we r Gold members and will keep on.

When asked to “add charges to the rental” I declined everything in person. When I initially made my reservation I declined all extra charges. When I arrived guy at hertz kept asking if I wanted to upgrade this or upgrade that for only a few extra dollars a day. I said no yada yada yada, he asked if I wanted to get this insurance or that, I said no because I am covered thru triple A and my own personal GEICO insurance.
(The guy at the counters job is obviously to upsell)
Long story short he has me sign and hands me the keys. I get handed my receipt and don’t think much of it because I don’t rent cars often.
I quickly looked thru it but don’t know what the charges are so I kinda hurriedly rush to my car as I’m hungry
But upon further review after my vacation I come to find I was charged an extra 200$ for LDW (which I had no idea was a thing until googling it 15 minutes ago).
If I had understood from the get go what the charge was I would have spoke up but the dude added a charge I had no idea about and now I’m forced to fork over an extra 200$ because I didn’t notice or even look at it sooner.
Kinda shitty in my opinion to add a charge especially when declining all of them. would I rent from hertz again? Probably not…

I would give a zero if possible.
Arrived at 8 and no cars were available. it was like an episode out of Seinfeld. No car and no empathy. The customer service agent should be fired.
I had to take Ubers for the next 2 days and had to pay Hertz a pre paid amount.
I will never rent from Hertz again unless forced to.

When coming to SRQ expect to wait. As a long time Hertz member Sarasota has one of the worst counters. The staff is fantastic but limited to what they can do. NO there is no lanes for gold or higher members. Cars are not waiting for you they still must be assigned. The booth outside is and has been closed for weeks. No speed line inside.

Had issue with my rental car. It sounds horrible. I was concerned driving it. Customer service told me they could not help me. I’ll never rent from Hertz again.

My issues were with the initial reservation. The agent was unprofessional, rude and combative. Someone needs to listen to the tape.
His articulation was unacceptable.
Who is hiring these people.
Additionally, he charged me for services that I didn't ask for such as pre-pay fuel surcharge and insurance coverage.
