During Tropical Storm Debbie, my 2019 Honda CRV was submerged in water while I was driving, which led to serious issues with the engine. I was anxious, as this vehicle is essential to my daily routine, and recent financial setbacks have made buying a new car difficult—even with insurance coverage. Thankfully, the insurance company agreed to attempt repairs instead of salvaging the vehicle.
I took my car to Mitch at Sarasota Mechanics Techs based on his outstanding reputation—over 200 five-star reviews—and I’m glad I did. Mitch and his team, including Stacy and others whose names escape me (but their kindness and professionalism do not), went above and beyond in diagnosing the problem. Mitch initially tried to fix the engine but quickly identified that a full engine replacement was necessary. His transparency was key—he took the time to walk me through the issues, explaining why it couldn’t simply be repaired. His expertise wasn’t just clear to me, but also to the insurance adjusters, who trusted his assessment without hesitation.
Mitch’s integrity shone through in an unexpected way. I asked him if he could replace the front brakes (I had replaced them myself earlier), and instead of taking the job, he told me they didn’t need changing—dispelling the common myth that all four brakes need to be replaced at once. That level of honesty is rare in any service industry, and it solidified my trust in him.
There were also existing issues with the vehicle that Mitch had identified, and he provided an accurate quote without pressuring me into unnecessary repairs. It was clear from the start that this wasn’t just a transactional relationship; it was about building trust and providing long-term care for both the car and the customer.

“I needed the positive battery cable cut back because it was giving me some issues due to corrosion. I went to another shop off of Sawyer and Beeridge and they quoted me $120. That sounded high so I called this place and they were able to do it on the spot for me for $25!!! They even replaced the terminal. I have taken 2 other cars there before and I don't know why I just didn't go there first. They're also super kind and friendly. Tom and Roger made my day.”

“I have to say hands down the Valvoline on South Tamiami Trail in Sarasota on the corner of Bee Ridge and 41 has to be the best Valvoline Instant oil change I've ever been to. Brandon is the manager and he is an awesome guy ,he is always friendly so courteous and willing to do everything he can for his customers. If you want a great experience and you have children and you want to get out of there quick go see this location. And tell him Heather sent you.”
“It’s not bad! Worth the money though I’d suggest not upgrading I feel it’s the same amount of time no matter what membership you have so save the money. No shade to vacuum or dry your car off. It’s convenient location. Vacuums are part of the price. People that work there are very friendly and keep the place clean and stocked with towels”

My dad knows him so he welcomes my dog into the office and gives her a bone every time we come in! If you need car repairs, I highly recommend this shop.
