This contemporary gallery in the beautifully refurbished historical high school is a treasure for Sarasota. Only $15 admission, spent 2 hours enjoying 3 separate exhibitions. Numerous employees offered interesting conversation about the works, one even attended high school there! As an artist and glass lover, I was enthralled by the Richard and Barbara Basch collection. This is a must see for glass lovers! Thank you Barabara for sharing it. I was told more of her collection is at the Ringling college gallery, where these will return Feb 11. Also had lunch at the Bistro, very good. Will be back soon.

A very contemporary and different art museum, worth visiting. The staff was exceptional and gave you an introduction to each area. They had a Chihuly display among many interesting and thought-provoking displays. They offer classes as well.

Not bad but I expected more exhibits. Kudos for giving veterans free entry

I had my first "free art Sunday" class experience and it was genuinely awesome and fun.Every other Sunday a free art class is offered to those interested. This weekend was painting, using air dry sculpy to make a boat, and a third room with some various, small art tables. If you have kids who don't mind trying new things, you want to just get an introduction to new art styles, or just straight up have fun ... Check this out.

This was my first visit, and I loved it! I watched the old high school being renovated and the museum move in and finally decided to check it out. It was so cool! Not your traditional art (paintings and sculptures) but new and different mediums and created things I never would have thought of.The staff was super nice and very helpful. We will definitely be going back as they change the exhibits on a regular basis.

Visited recently for the first time. Enjoyed what little was there but the second floor was closed for installation of new exhibits so there really wasn't much to see. Very pricey ($30 for 2). Kept looking around corners to see if there was anything else. I think admission should be reduced when galleries are closed. Gift shop was nice.

Museum itself is beautiful, and stunningly remodeled from its previous incarnation as a school. Apparently, it is intended to predominately show traveling exhibits. When we visited, half the museum was unavailable due to an exhibit changing out. I assume this would happen frequently. It would make sense to announce these changeouts on the web page, and/or reduce the entry fee when the museum is only half available.

Great space to see art from upcoming new artists. I'm glad that the people saved that building from the wrecking ball, it's stunning.

This is a fabulous building with shows of contemporary art that change regularly. We were there to see one of the current ones -- "A Beautiful Mess" with woven and knitted and knotted items. It was terrific. There were two additional curated exhibits to see, both also well worth the time it took to view. The docents there were well informed and very helpful explaining some of the art. A great price, a lovely gift shop, lots of parking and a place to eat....I would say it's well worth your time in Sarasota.
