5 stars! Great course and stand up people in the pro shop. I left my expensive Blue Tee Speaker in the cart and the pro shop staff went above and beyond to make sure it was returned. Shout to Jim and Susan. Thank y’all.

We didn't golf, we were tourists investigating a new area of Florida. It looks like a very nice course.

So... Staff was amazing. That's why this place is getting 2 stars. The course layout is okay. Nothing special, but nice. The huge problem is the $100+ they are charging a round, and almost all the greens are covered in huge patches of sand thick. Not sure if the picture does it justice, but this is the current state of play. If you like putting on bunkers, this is your place. And again, the staff was very friendly, but at least a warning about the course conditions would have been nice. I'd stay far away from here until they get this sorted out. I feel a bit ripped off after my experience at this course. 4 minutes down the road is the Bobby Jones course. It's cheaper, and in much better shape all the way around.

could be the worst golf club in SW Fl. even ask the starter how's the condition and response is " some of the greens are unplayable. Recently received solicitation for green fees for 2023 2024 season. asked if course had been improved, response by pro shop; reseeding some of greens. Some greens have been unplayabl for several season. no assurance that anything has really improved. Cart paths are deplorable, rest stops glorified outhouses. no one seems to care from pro shop, cart boys to starters. no accommodation in green fees for poor condition of course. Seems like the course will soon disappear by lack of upkeep. Don't waste your money.

This is a fun golf course that is cut into a tropical jungle - a really cool and scenic track. I've played it a few times now and the conditions improve every time I return.Ask for a lesson with Highlands Golf Pro, Jarrad Welikonich. Over the course of 3 lessons, Jarrad dissected and corrected flaws in both my swing and putting stroke, leading to a 5-stroke improvement in my handicap (18 to 13!).

Fun round of golf on the Highlands. The fairways looked great and the greens rolled true. The course can be a challenge, regardless of which tee box you use, but the scenery and wildlife enhance the whole experience. And did I mention how friendly the staff is?? All in all, an enjoyable golfing experience.

I was recently visiting my parents in Sarasota, which I do every summer. Last summer, the Highlands was nearly unplayable. I told myself that I would never go back there. My parents have since informed me that the course is under new leadership, and that conditions are much improved. I decided to give it another try. I was pleasantly surprised! It's not quite perfect yet, but the ship seems steered in the right direction.

Wow what a difference a year makes! I am happy to be a part of this club and have to agree with the recent comments that The Highlands looks better then ever. The great culture and hospitality that this club brings everyday is second to none!

Last season I agreed with all the criticism of the Highlands Golf Course. This season is a whole new story! The tee boxes and fairways are in excellent shape and the greens are much improved over last season.

I used to play here regularly. Was a consistent course. The greens on the front nine are the absolute worst I've ever seen. Paid $70 for what I'd assume would be decent conditions. As an avid golfer was the absolute worst greens I've EVER seen. Combined with the attitude Dave gave to us, worst round I've ever played. Seriously , don't play here till they fix it!

The Meadows in Sarasota, FL is a community unlike any other. The Meadows has three golf courses including two that are open to the public: The Groves, an 18-hole, par 65 course, and The Highlands, an 18-hole, par 72 golf course. The 3rd course is The Meadows Golf Course which is completely private.Although The Highlands Course hasn’t been open to the public for very long, the word is getting around about how challenging and picturesque it is. Highlands features fairways lined with mature oak trees and massive pines that lead to generous greens that will reward a well-played shot. Golfers can choose from 5 sets of tees. From the back tees, The Highlands plays 6,699 yards with a course rating of 72.6 and a slope of 128. The forward tees play 5,090 yards (69.7/122). It’s another course that can be played by just about anyone. The 9th hole is a challenging par 5 that many golfers in the Sarasota area consider to be one of the toughest par 5s in the county. From the White Tees, the hole plays 497 yards, not long by par 5 standards, but the double dogleg created by the trees that line both sides will take the driver out of many players’ hands. Your best bet is to play your tee shot about 160 yards down the left side of the fairway to avoid being blocked out by several oak trees on the right side. A well-executed tee shot may leave an opportunity to go for the green, but you’ll have to deal with a creek that runs through the fairway about 100 yards in front of the green. Push your tee shot right and you’ll probably be blocked out by more trees. The green is small and slopes back to front. It has been said that “Membership has its privileges,” and this holds true at The Meadows. Membership here includes access to all three golf courses: the private Members-only Meadows Course, the publicly accessible Highlands Course, and the executive-length Groves Course. That’s 54 holes of golf as well as 17 Har-Tru tennis courts, pickleball courts, a junior Olympic swimming pool, a fitness center, 2 restaurants, and 6 unique event spaces. With over 200 social events each year, educational programs, and recreational activities, The Meadows truly offers something for everyone. They also have a “Kids Play Free” program that helps families with aspiring young golfers and encourages practice and skill acquisition. The Staff of PGA professionals offer lessons, free clinics, and club fittings all year round, with beautiful practice areas to help take your game to the next level. As a member of The Meadows, you’ll find a warm and welcoming staff and a club with a very active membership. The club is located in a beautiful and relaxing setting and is convenient and accessible to Sarasota’s downtown corridor and a bevy of residential and shopping centers including the University Town Center Mall.During my visit to The Meadows, I met Gerry Dunnigan, who at the age of 97, is still an avid golfer. Gerry lives in The Meadows and has been a member for 23 years. He’s seen a lot over the years but seems to think that the course is in the best shape it’s been in a long time, and he looks forward to many more years of playing the game he loves. The Meadows offers a diverse selection of Non-Equity memberships for year-round, seasonal, or summer enjoyment.
