Casa Monica Resort & Spa is a historic hotel in a fantastic and perfect location within walking distance of anything in downtown St. Augustine, including restaurants, shops, historical sites, and the trolley tour. The service is spectacular, super helpful, and excellent, with staff noted as true assets. The hotel features an awesome bar, pool, and restaurant. The food is excellent, very good, and a highlight, though the dinner menu is very small and it does not accommodate food allergies very well; breakfast is a lot better. There is a Starbucks on the first floor.
The rooms are nice and good, but the historic hallways are also dark and dated. Some rooms were reported as humid and smelling moldy, with a lack of action from management on the issue. The carpet in rooms could be replaced with easier-to-clean flooring, and a small refrigerator is desired. The fitness center is a small room and needs to be larger. The ambiance is relaxing and includes art galleries. While many had a fantastic experience and highly recommend it, some were disappointed due to maintenance and service issues.
