I liked this hotel because it is so close to the old city. The location is perfect. With the car parked and leaving the bags in the room an evening stroll towards the St Marco's street was made. A perfect evening. The room was clean, bathroom in excellent condition.I was not impressed with the breakfast. Got there around 9am and all the pastries was already gone with no refill.

This hotel is overpriced for a Holiday Inn. Breakfast is $15 extra per person and parking $18. Not worth the price we pay per night, $218, is a rip off. No free city transport either. The hotel is further away than at leasr 3 other popular chains. 16 min walk from the visitor center.Nearby activities: Dark surroundings

We had 2 rooms for 2 nights. We ASSUMED this would be a satisfactory stay but were wrong. In the future we will stay closer to downtown AND trust the reviews. I had read bad reviews but assumed they were one-offs. Trust me… pick another hotel!Issues:Shower/tub. No stopper for the tub. Very little soap in the soap dispenser and the plunger for the soap was broken. Water pressure was on if you wanted a cold shower. If you wanted a hot shower there was little water pressure. (This was in both rooms.)Internet/TV: There was no local TV. The message on the screen from Dish Network was that there was an issue with the subscription. There was no internet in the rooms. We were told this on check in but were told it MIGHT work in the hallway… we didn’t try the hallway for the internet.Breakfast: Coffee ran out and we had to wait for another pot to finish brewing. (There was only one coffee pot.). Pancake machine didn’t work the first day. Sausage was old and dry. I didn’t try any of the breads because I saw another guest touch everything in the case trying to find something fresh! (Ewe!!!) Every guest in the dining room was grumbling about the food and service so it wasn’t just us.Staff: They seem to be Very short staffed. Those that I did encounter were very nice but really couldn’t help me. When I first complained I was told the would compensate me on the bill upon check out. I see now that was a ploy to pass the buck since upon check out I was told that “management doesn’t allow that”.Beds/linens: The beds were very comfortable and clean. My only issue was I had to remake the bed since the top sheet had so much tucked in at the bottom that it would have only come up to my waist. As for the linens, we had just enough for 2 people. If the three of us had stayed in one room there would not have been enough. (2 hand towels, 2 washcloths,3 bath towels.)Summary : I see other negative reviews are responded to nicely and respectfully but they really don’t care or they would take action to correct the problems. Do not waste your money on this place. It was the ONLY negative part of our trip to St Augustine.

Helene & Catherine at the front desk are the best. They are very accommodating. Room is clean + bed is comphy. Geanna is the greatest in the restaurant! Caisley is very accommodating at the front desk as well! ?

We came in for a long weekend for the Songwriters Festival hoping to have a pleasurable stay at the hotel. It was terrible. The owner decided to renovate the rooms instead of closing the hotel to undergo the construction work. We could hear drilling and jack hammer noises above our room all day from Thursday to Sunday. Many of the songwriters couldn't practice or sleep because of the noise. One couple had to find another hotel because the noise was so bad. Apparently the owner of this hotel owns several in St. Augustine and he could have afforded to shut the hotel down instead of putting his guests through hell. Greed. Profits before people never wins in the end. Shame on Holiday Inn for false advertising. Worst experience EVER.

Still under renovation… so I am assuming the rooms that we stayed in was not completed… not sure why they would have guests stay in a room that is not completed, but C’est la vie. Unfortunately the first room that we were assigned the bedding did not appear to be clean there noticeable stains on the sheets and pillows. Overall the rooms were not bad and I am sure once the renovations are completed you will have a room that is presentable and worth the price. The location is the biggest selling point and the reason we chose to stay here.So now time for the worst part of the Hotel… the restaurant! The food was so so, and not cheap, and the staff were very nice, but they seemed short staffed, but the cleanliness is what I was more concerned with. When we sat for dinner we had to request new utensils since the majority were dirty and had bits of food left on it… not great! Honestly probably wouldn’t have tried my luck with breakfast, if not for the convenience. That coupled with the fact that kids eat free… so we had to roll that dice! Breakfast wasn’t so bad, not the best and again not a great price. The cups were dirty, but luckily they had extra cups on the table so at least you had a backup for the dirty cups. Unfortunately I wish the cups were the only issue, but they weren’t. So if you order fruit check it! We had a caterpillar in ours! Very off putting!

First let me give props where they are earned. Upon checking in the front desk clerk, Caislee, was very nice and accommodating! She gave us a few perks that made our stay more pleasurable. She gave us one of the mere rooms which was very nice. The young man at the bar that afternoon was also very nice & made us some very nice drinks. It's little things that make a stay worth it!Rooms: Rooms are clean & have been upgraded.

Everything was very good. Just have to comment about the paid parking and no continental breakfast, yet $18 charge per day. This very same exact Holiday Inn, in downtown Orlando, near all the theme parks and attraction, which has FREE parking and FREE breakfast! This location does not have any free breakfast. They make you buy it at a fancy restaurant inside. This location also charges $18 per day to park because they can, and for basically nothing. What are you going to do? And they don't say anything until you get your bill. I knew about it from the other reviews , so I said something. They still almost didn't want to say that there was a charge. They sneak it in. And they even charge tax on it. Oh, they even charge the day that you checked out, for parking on that day?? ?Rooms: Definitely clean rooms. If you stay more than two days they make you have them clean your room. But they give you no towels and leave towles on the floor. They basically change the sheets on your bed. They took my floor shower towel and put it back up onto the rung of the shower door. As if to tell me to use it again. If you use all the shower gells more than one time, they do not replace them with any more. Absolutely gone and nothing replaced. And I was staying 3 nights.Food & drinks: There is no free breakfast. Yet every other Holiday Inn Express hotel has it.

I loved my room. It did not have carpet, was super clean, and didn't have any weird smells. A note was on my bed about renovations going on, but I was happy with my room. I loved my bed, so comfortable. The nightstand drawer never closed, but this is where I put my clothes, so there was no way to forget them. The location was excellent. It's a 5 minute walk to trolley stop 19 (Our Lady of LA Leche Shrine). The walk to the visitor center is nice. The entire area is very walkable, but the trolley gives a good overview of what's in the area. It runs regularly about every 10 or 15 minutes. Each trolley stop has so much for folks to do. St Augustine has a lot of diverse history. I ate a dinner meal at Holiday Inn, the food was absolutely delicious and fresh. I got fried fish with a baked potato. My reason for the lower star rating is the breakfast. My group of 32 had breakfast in the Flagger dining room. There was hardly anything on the bar (scrabbled eggs, sausage patties/links, hashbrown, biscuits, muffins, and fruit, which were mostly orange slices). There was coffee, tea, water, or orange juice). NO cereal, oatmeal, or boiled eggs. I don't eat scrambled eggs, and muffins are too sweet. My options were limited within the limited options

The hotel is in a great location. It was a great value, especially if you have on of there credit cards. (Free room). The staff was great and helpful, especially the lady that works the desk in the evening. I think her name is Giana. The negative part of it was the bed... it was hard a extremely loud when you move. The rain was loud coming of the roof. It was really annoying and hard to drown out.The hotel is getting remodeled. Having the laminate floors is nice because we all know how dirty carpet can get.All in all it's clean and great if you're just sleeping there and financially affordable.

Location, Location, Location. The front desk day staff was minimally friendly. The staff who prepared the breakfast were delightful and engaging every morning. They should be commended for making guest feel welcome. The room was clean, parking was easy to access and the location felt safe. It’s directly across the street from the beach.

My husband and I recently visited here. I must say, at first there was alot of confusion with the reservation line. However, the customer service at the hotel was wonderful. When I called, Helen, was prompt to attend to my problem. Between her and the General Manager they made it right. The room was beautiful. The breakfast was great. The pool and hot tub were very clean. It was such a wonderful experience. All of the staff was excellent!! I highly recommend this hotel. Thank you for the great memories!!

This is my second time staying here. The first time I had a room with two queen beds, It was a comfortable room, clean & roomy. Perfect for a quick overnight stay. Beds are comfortable. Pillows are great. I love when hotels have pillows with different firmness to choose from!!l This time, I stayed in a room with a king bed set up. Again, the room was spacious and clean. I love that the bed has reading lights on it, so you dont have to disturb your partner with a big light. The only issue I'm having is that you can not set the AC any lower than 65, and you can't set the fan to stay on. I need noise to sleep, and now I have dead silence

We've been to St Augustine many times, but usually stay over by the beach. This time we want to stay in the historical district. When we made the reservations I asked how far we were from the bay I was told it was a 5-minute walk, it was more like two miles so it really wasn't somewhere we would walk to. I was also told that parking was included, however when I got to the hotel they did let me know that I would be charged $18 a night. Room was clean not enough towels had to ask for more. I stayed at a hotel that had a restaurant cuz I thought we would be able to get room service but no room service was offered. Not even a menu in the room to tell you what they served in case you want to go downstairs and get something and bring it up. The morning we left our coffee maker broke wouldn't make coffee anymore, thought maybe there'd be some complimentary coffee as we were leaving and it was like 6:00 in the morning but nothing. Let the guy at the desk know it was broke. The drawer on the nightstand would not stay closed. All in all it was okay staff seem to be nice. Wouldn't stay there again though too many better choices thought it was a four and a half star I would rate it more as a three.Walkability: Poor

Room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Loved the pillows! Breakfast was pretty good. Located a short distance away from the historical area. Was, too, far for me to walk so I had to deal with finding parking. Luckily, I only had to wait 10 minutes for a spot to open up.
