“Exceptional Customer Care Recognition for Melina at Vero Beach Store (43rd & Oslo Plaza), Vero beach, Florida.
To the AT&T Management Team,
I am writing this to bring well-deserved recognition to Melina, a team member at the AT&T Store located in the plaza at 43rd & Oslo. Her outstanding service saved me from a very stressful and unfair situation.
I went to the store to get a return label/ticket for an unactivated AT&T device. The device was sent with a new phone number, but since I wanted to keep my existing number, I needed to return the unopened equipment first to settle the account before deciding on my next steps.
Because the account was brand new and unactivated, I had no PIN, account number, or authorized info required by the automated customer service system. Every time I called the 1-800 support, I was stuck, pushed away, or told to handle it myself. In my experience, most sales representatives will simply brush off a customer if there is no sale or immediate commission involved.
However, Melina was a complete exception.
Despite limited English on my end, she understood my problem instantly and took initiative without hesitation. Even though helping me brought no sales or profit to her store, she saw a customer in distress and chose to step up.
She personally called AT&T support on my behalf. We had to wait on hold for a very long time, and when the line accidentally dropped, she didn't give up—she dialed another line and waited patiently all over again to ensure I got the return ticket I needed. Had it not been for Melina, I would have been forced to pay monthly charges for a service I couldn't even activate or use.
In today’s retail environment, finding someone with Melina’s genuine empathy, patience, and true dedication to customer service is extremely rare. Most employees only care about transactions that bring in revenue, but Melina represents the absolute gold standard of what true customer care should be.
To AT&T Leadership:
Please do not let a valuable employee like Melina go unrecognized. Her selfless service saved a customer from an impossible loophole in your 1-800 phone system. I strongly encourage management to recognize her dedication, reward her effort, and use her as a benchmark to train other employees on how to deliver real, compassionate service.
