First Gear Bicycles operates by appointment only and specializes in custom, chopper, lowrider, and fat tire bikes, building cool rides for over 10 years. Customers can pick out a cool ready-to-ride bike, customize their own, or check out a selection of pre-owned bikes that are tuned up and fixed. The shop offers efficient and secure repair services, with very clear communication, for a fair or cheap price, providing high quality service. Repairs are prompt, and the staff often finds and addresses minor issues at no extra cost, even educating customers on bike use. The experience is very welcoming, personable, and professional, with great conversations. They also have a wide selection of new and used parts and can help find specific items. Services are limited to certain bike and part types, and they do not service carbon bikes, hydraulic brake systems, or suspension components. Many customers state they will return and recommend the shop.
Andrew was super nice and helpful! He showed us the bikes he had for sale and the customizations he does. And even though he had his agenda full, he took the time to show us what to look for when buying a bike. Fully recommended!
