Very poor customer service. Unfriendly, unhelpful. I walked in to reopen a checking account and although I was the only customer in the lobby and there were 3 employees behind the counter, I was told that they did not have time to meet with me at 4:15 pm although they did not close until 5pm.

believe the other one star reviews. There are many far better credit unions out there.

Some of the worst service, I have ever hadThere is not a single time, where I need their atm, or need to pull money etc where I have not had any issues. Its always something. I am changing banks, asap, because i am tired of it. Not to mention the manager, the very first time I tried to open an account, basically told me because of my age "obviously the paperwork is fake", and I had to actually involve my fiance's father to get ANYWHERE with them. The very paperwork they ASKED me for!! I was around age 20 at the time, and am 31 now. Never once in over ten years with them did that manager make me feel welcome, not even once. I don't know if it was because I am disabled, or just because he assumed everyone below 30 was untrustworthy or what, but he definitely had some form of bias against me from the very beginning. Steer clear if you need to open an account and you're young, find somewhere else.

Opening a new bank account at any credit union is always a long sucky process. But once all the paperwork and new accounts holds, etc. expired, its been great to have less fees. The banking app is good, and they even offer a complete user manual for the app if you ask for it by messaging customer service. Always message in the app, dont call or email, imo. You get better response and links to info. If I had a loan request Id start it there. Joining a credit union has some advantages in resources that traditional banks dont, so I would say GUCU has been a good choice. You only need to meet a residency requirement in the areas they operate to open an account. Oh and you lose $5 forever because thats the credit union hostage price or something thats been around for 50+ years.

I had a poor experience with a car loan they forced an insurance that inflated my car payment by more than $10,000. I never had an accident and got the coverage when I asked why my loan looked the way it did. They totally took advantage of people and would take even half back although I never was in an accident. I will NEVER use them again or refer anyone to them for a car loan.

To Whom It May Concern, 4-5-23 I have patronized your Dekalb Penola Industrial Park location twice. Each time I have had to stand in line for more than fifteen minutes. Today it was beyond twenty minutes. I walked in a gentleman was standing at one of the teller windows (the head teller) before I came in and was at that window without her being there a lengthy time. Also, at the other window that person was at the window for well over ten minutes. Further, when I finally got to the window (the head teller) I had to wait for her to complete whatever from the last patron. I made a deposit of 700.91 (cash back of 48.00) from the checks total 748.91 with my ID (which she had in hand and my account number). She then asked me for the last five (not four) of my social security number. I asked why did she need that because out of the 25+ years of banking with this credit union I have never ever been asked that question. I had ask her a second time before she answered. She stated you are getting cash back and we have to ask that question. I replied my location (Duluth-Satellite Blvd) doesn't and I was in there a little over a week ago. She stated that it started in March sarcastically. I am most appalled that a basic transaction in that location takes beyond 5 minutes. I was at her window at least 8+ minutes. Other patrons are waiting a very lengthy time. The lady behind me had to sit because she could not stand for as long as it was taking the two tellers for each patron. I have never ever waited in line at the Duluth location for more than five minutes at the most. It is most ridiculous that in that community everything is so disregarded of time management/efficiency of its patrons. Other, employees never ever offered any assistance with the lines being long or even offer a Greeting. One lady did come from a back office and say "we will be with you shortly" after over fifteen minutes in line. This is extremely poor customer service. I will make it a point to never ever patronize that location ever again. I will just have to wait until I get back to my side of town. Angela W. Then today 4-6-23 my account has an unauthorized charge. I had to contact the fraud department. Sent from my iPad

horrible customer service!!!! They sit and chat about personal problems. Do not acknowledge their customers. Very unprofessional. This is not the first time I’ve had this issue with this particular branch. Waiting 30 minutes to talk about non work related issues is completely unacceptable.

I've been a member here for decades, but I really need to close my account. The customer service has steadily declined and tonight I received notification from my credit card that payment had not going through. I logged into my account on my desktop (the App on my phone stopped working about a month ago) and saw that my account has been overdrawn for over a month, and I've been assessed at least a half dozen or more overdraft "protection" fees. I know this thanks to my credit card. GFCU did not send me any communication or notification. Banks are required to do this by LAW. It's best practices for credit unions. Apparently when I paid my credit card last month I added an extra zero. I don't check my account often because I usually have a very large buffer. Hopefully this is motivation enough for me to finally go through the hassle of changing my automatic deposit and bill pay over to my other credit union.

GUCU was recommended by a friend, so I did not bother to read the reviews. If I did, I probably would've taken my business elsewhere. I am glad I did not. Working with GCCU was very easy. The staff was friendly and very helpful. I will continue to do business with them in the years to come.

I have always had good experiences at this establishment. The people are very friendly and happy to help out. However, my most recent visit was phenomenal. Melody went above and beyond for me & helped me out with numerous things. Her knowledge with this industry really shines! I have nothing but good things to say about her. By far the best experience I have ever had at a bank/credit union. Thank you GUCU for hiring such high quality and genuine people.

Dealing with people is ok but just to talk to someone you have to go through a maze to reach someone and when trying to reach out to my branch left the phone to ring lasted 25 min not happy with how things have been handled lately. I typically don’t leave reviews on anything but this treatment has really upset me on this been banking here since I was in high school. Now considering moving to another bank

These are some of the rudest people I have ever dealt with in banking. I chose to take a second mortgage out with a local credit union thinking that I would have a local contact for my needs, and they might actually get to know my needs and my businesses. That is the furthest thing from the truth. I have spoken with them at least 3 times not on information I needed (they never sent me a 1098 for my loan interest for my taxes which is I think illegal) and every single time I have politely called to ask for help, they make excuses for why they can't help me, they correct me on things they are not understanding and if they would just stop and listen to what I was saying they would actually understand, they cut me off mid-sentence to state their excuse again, and are dismissive and outright arrogant and rude. I thought the first employee I had treat me that way was a possible fluke, so I let it go. The second one happened, and I wanted to leave a review or call a manager, but I was way too busy. Now this last time (while trying to do my taxes and they never sent my 1098 for the 2nd year in a row) I can't be silent anymore. It is pervasive in the organization, and I would never recommend this bank to a soul. If you want to be treated like you are an interruption and a huge inconvenience to their day, then by all means, bank with Georgia United Credit Union.
