“While the name Kinship Butcher and Sundry might not proclaim the promise of a decent cuppa, it does serve respectable coffee. Perhaps it’s the sundry that should be more focused on in this instance. The price is even competitive with its loftier rivals. A most unexpected triumph.
The outdoor seating proves quite a delight, granting one the pleasure of observing the crisp fall air go about its business, entirely indifferent to human affairs. There is, without fail, a dog or two wandering about, each presenting itself as if auditioning for the role of “Most Pettable Creature in the County.” One perhaps oblige to that.
Should one, find oneself in need of exorbitantly priced butchered meats, the establishment hosts such wares with operatic flair, though I remain steadfastly loyal to my coffee alone, focusing on Sundry instead of the Butcher part.
The locale affords a most agreeable evening stroll through Virginia Highland at sunset. The streets glow with a warm, mellow light that suggests the world is briefly at peace. But of course, serenity is a fickle mistress.
For as darkness gathers, so too does the impending doom of the bar scene. Middle-aged revelers and collegiate youths alike emerge from the shadows, converging with the enthusiasm of soldiers charging into battle, though with considerably worse aim. Their voices swell into a great, unrestrained roar, as though each believes himself the tragic hero of his own ale soaked soliloquy.”
“A wonderful butcher shop and a great resource in the neighborhood. They carry and custom cut very high quality products so don’t compare prices to grocery store chains. Fresh Prime beef, heritage pork, sushi grade salmon and tuna. Their frozen case is extensive with foie gras, red shrimp, veal shanks, sausages, premade sides, etc. It’s hard to make a decision with all the good choices.
We recently had a Duroc pork loin and they butterflied it to perfection for us to make a porchetta . It was outstanding!

“Such a warm and welcoming neighborhood shop who cares about what their customer is looking for. They take the time to understand, recommend fabulous items, and provide a stellar product - ensuring a relationship and not just stop and shop. Pro tip: macarons and banana pudding are the only desserts after a melt in your mouth steak and mouth watering veggie side. (Added 4/2/24: we picked up burgers to grill for Easter and they were huge and so delicious. Everyone raved about them!)”
“Went for the first time on Saturday, and I could not recommend more highly. Rusty was so helpful, and he had a great selection. We bought several things and though we've only had the brined pork porterhouse so far, I had to go ahead and write a review. It was the best pork chop we've ever eaten. So incredibly juicy and tender - will be back for more very soon. You just can't get this kind of meat at a grocery store!”

Not a lot of places left like this these days, with all the online ordering get a box sent to your house world we live in. But it is nice to see what you're buying in person before you buy it. “One star less because of the difficulty getting into the dock but otherwise, very helpful people. They moved the cars that were in the way. For big rigs, pull in across the road and back in the drive. Once off the road, go check in and they will move what's needed.”
“Service and the food can vary depending on who's working that day.thankfully they DO wear gloves and have a decent health code review.What I really like and stands apart is the salsa bar. Especially the cole slaws. The green chile one is sharp with a little heat but the plain oregano one has a great cooling note to offset the chiles.”

“I want yo send a Huge Thank You to Ethan and The whole C&S Team. On Thursday's at my place of employment. We serve hot meals and give out pantry goods to the community. As well as provide other resources. We were recently blessed with an opportunity to expand our pantry bags with some protein. I contacted several meat markets with No one willing to assist with the packaging. Ethan not only offered to package the meat so we can serve more families but he gave us an amazing price! “When I was in Atlanta this grocery store was very good compared to the others. We got a good fish and meat to try during my stay 10/10 quality.One key thing is if you are Bengali like me you should try there sweets are are imported from Bangladesh. Owner and staff were sweet and helpful.”

“Most important it's clean! It never has that nasty raw meat smell like so many other places. Food prices are good considering inflation everywhere. I filled two deep freezers for $265.00 just the other day. Krogers wanted 27.99 for just a pack of wings. I bought a whole meat package for $30.00. Big difference in quality and quantity for sure.”
