Unicoi State Park & Lodge is a nice and secret state park to explore with a friendly and attentive staff. It offers clean, comfortable, well-maintained lodges and a campground. The rooms have been totally updated, are decent, and compare well to others, though some note the lodge could use an update overall. It is a pretty good value, especially midweek.
The park provides lots of activities, including hiking and biking trails, zip lines, boat rentals, swimming, archery, and fly fishing lessons. It is very accessible to Helen without the crowds. The facilities are impressive for conferences, with ample meeting rooms and outside areas. Amenities include a fire pit on the lawn, an indoor fireplace, and a gift shop.
Food is always top notch, plentiful, and decent, with a good breakfast offered. The lodge rates are higher than some surrounding hotels, though the campground is very reasonable. Overall, it is a really great place to stay and is highly recommended for outdoor adventures.
