Upon arrival, I was greeted by the receptionist who immediately checked me in. I asked about the bicycles out front for rent and was immediately told that those were unavailable despite having to walk past to enter the lobby.I walked to my room up rusty stairs and peeling paint past the out of service ice machine with pieces of the wall scattered alongside it. Upon arrival to my room, the musty smell immediately hit me. I went back to the lobby and was reassigned another room a couple of doors down.Upon arrival to the second room, I immediately observed that there were no trash can liners in place. Additionally, the shower had obviously not been cleaned. I cleaned the shower somewhat and decided to make the best of my visit.Immediately before going to bed on the first night, a single roach crawled in front of the bathroom sink. I thought it was no big deal since it was starting to get cool and they could appear from time to time. The next morning, said roach was in the same place and I knew housekeeping would get it.I got into the shower and the shower valve leaked so badly I could barely get enough water to shower. Maybe 20% of the flow came from the shower head. When I returned that next evening, the room had been serviced but the shower had not been cleaned and the roach was still in the same spot.I requested a ride from the shuttle to meet some colleagues near the conference center. The shuttle operator had no idea that the lights were not on in the van despite the darkness. I had to ask the operator to turn the lights on so that we could see to travel.I attempted to eat at the on-site restaurant on my second night there. The place was generously 25% occupied but they told me I would need to wait an hour to even get a table. I declined.I have no intention to return. Beware.

Cool location.Had to ask for new comforter because mine smelled like wet dog and clearly hadn't been washed.Rooms are small and have a musky smell to them in general.Rooms located on the oceanside of the hotel, depending which one require a rather long walk.It was just OK.

We had a nice stay here. The location is ideal, the outdoor part is amazing. Very natural, coastal, secluded, and beautiful with ample ocean-facing seating areas. The room had a pet smell and was due for a deep clean, but nothing worth complaining about. The only reason I do not give 5 stars is because I could not find hot coffee anywhere on the resort in the morning! Even their restaurant was not open. People do not go to resorts to drink cheap keurig coffee in the room.

Jekyll Island is beautiful, but the ocean is definitely not for swimming in August. There were lots of little brown pellets we weren't sure about, no white capping waves at all, and the water was very warm like a bathtub. We will be back to Jekyll Island, but we will most definitely visit a different time of year. The worst part about our short stay on our way to Florida was the hotel. The air conditioning unit was much too small for the room, and there wasn't a seal on the door. We struggled to sleep in an 80+ degree room. I finally drifted off for 3 hours at 3:30 am. The remote for the television didn't work. It smelled like a wet dog in the room, probably more so because it wouldn't cool off. They wouldn't let us check out late even though we were IHG members. We needed a little time before heading to our final destination in Florida, and we were still absolutely exhausted, but we were able to find something to do on the way. I would definitely recommend the Georgia Sea Turtle Center. It made our stop worth it!Rooms: Find another hotel, please, for your own sake. I should have trusted the reviews. It's half a star at best, and I usually love Holiday Inn hotels.Nearby activities: Be sure to visit the Georgia Sea Turtle Center and watch them perform surgeries on injured turtles, walk around the exhibit and learn lots of interesting facts about sea turtles, use the interactive exhibits and take a moment to play the games that are offered, walk through the facility and see the turtles they have and support the incredible work they are doing by buying a little something in their gift shop or making a donation! Staff is super friendly, and you can just feel how much they love their jobs and their turtles! Fun for the whole family or a couple on a romantic getaway!Food & drinks: The hotel said there was a continental breakfast provided. Upon arrival, we discovered that was not the case. There is a breakfast that can be charged to your room, but we opted to venture out for lunch the first day and breakfast before heading out the next day. We ate lunch at a wonderful Mexican restaurant just a little ways from the hotel (the name escapes me at the moment but you can't miss it on the left after left out of the hotel parking lot and driving a few miles at most), there was enough food leftover from lunch for us to have it for supper at our hotel. We ate breakfast at a little place in the far left corner of the village. It had wonderful steak and egg sandwiches, as well as pancakes for the kids. There is no shortage of good food on the island, take your pick and it's likely amazing with a friendly staff and a relaxing environment!

As an IHG diamond member, I have come to expect a certain level of service from these properties. However, this location did not meet any of those expectations. First, it has a great location, the beach is wonderful and clean, so it gets props for that. But for the price, the rooms and facilities as well as the customer service was lacking. The hotel seem to be staffed with people who were less enthusiastic about doing their job than most. Trying to get a straight answer without some sort of attitude was difficult. I had to exercise restraint on more than a few occasions. The room was dark and dirty, locks were broken, the phone did not work, housekeeping did not come and clean the room, and other things that should not exist in a hotel at this price.I contemplated speaking to the manager, but given the fact that everyone I met there seem to be operating on less than a full charge, I figured, What's the point?I tend to be a loyal IHG member wherever I travel around the world, but if I were to return to this beach, I most likely would stay at a competitor:s property.

My family of three spent four days here—we are a married couple with a 2-year-old child and one on the way. My husband and I had spent a vacation here three years ago (fall of 2020) and felt like we had a very different experience with the hotel this time around. It felt very run-down and dirty compared to what we saw in 2020, which was really surprising to us. There were signs upon arrival about ongoing renovations, but it seemed that they weren’t taking care of what they had in the meantime. The grounds desperately needed upkeep (overgrown plants, walkways, and multiple broken spigots for hosing off your feet post-beach), I noticed multiple out of order drink/ice machines, and our room wasn’t very clean. We arrived early and waited a couple hours for our room to be ready, so I knew the room was being actively serviced… but I wasn’t prepared for an abundance of pink mold around the bathtub (which I scrubbed off myself with regular dish soap), an only-sometimes-functioning bath/shower nozzle, a sticky kitchenette floor, or a general dank smell in the room itself. One AC unit worked GREAT and made the living room area very chilly, but the AC unit in the bedroom area couldn’t keep up, so it left the room feeling musty. Thankfully we didn’t encounter leftover sand. Good news: housekeeping staff visited us two out of the four days and were super helpful and friendly—they replenished towels and K-cups, anything we needed. The pool was closed for the first day and a half of our stay due to recently being "treated," but it still looked quite dirty when it did open. The cabana chairs and lounge beds were really gross and sad—so different from our stay in 2020!Big cons for us: The kid pool was closed (and looked disgusting), and the kid playroom in the main building was also closed for renovation. We were *very much* looking forward to those two things, and nowhere on the website does it mention the renovations—you’re only notified by posted signs when you arrive. Very disappointing for us.Some pros: Good location, great access to good restaurants. Feels very family friendly! The beach is lovely.I had previously recommended this hotel to friends and family, but I will be walking back my comments at least until their renovations are done.

Location is great. Rooms are not, place is pretty run down. From the play ground which is rusted out. The pool is out of order until further notice. The pool bar was not open one time during our stay. I asked for extra towels as we are a family of four, and there where only two bath towel upon arrival. The front desk told me that I needed to put linens out in order to get more…. And that I need to allow cleaners in during stay. We will pay more next time to stay somewhere else on the island. No impressed at all.

The rooms are adequate. Room service was less than stellar. Got fresh towels three of the four nights but did not make the bed ever. The location for the beach is good but the pool and other “resort” amenities are very under whelming. The cabana beds were disgusting looking with the covers half off of them most days.

I would rather sleep in my car or a hammock than waste any money on this place. I didn’t pay anything for our room because I had the IHG points to stay here for a week for free. We left here and spent $1700 on a real vacation spot. I WOULD NOT even stay here for FREE!!They should call this place the Holiday Out!Here is some constructive advice:1. I don’t want to share my room with a colony of flies. So, get an exterminator to ensure the insects don’t take up residence here.2. Hire, at least, 2 maintenance personnel to be available around the clock. One should solely focus on ensuring that the rooms are in top shape.-clean the mold out of the shower and off the walls-the furniture needs repairs and should be matchingThe other should solely focus on ensuring the grounds are in top shape.-clean the pool daily, first thing in the morning-get the cabanas cleaned and replace the cushions so they can actually be used-put the ladders away and out of sight-if the seat of a chair has any rips or holes in it, it needs fixed or thrown out and replaced-PICK UP THE TRASH THAT’S LAYING AROUND3. Make the lobby and the front desk set the standard for the rest of the hotel.-staff should be well kept and actively helpful-there should be NOTHING stacked up and laying around the front desk like it’s a storage shed; papers, laundry, dog bones, general clutter, etc.-air freshener and background music go a long wayThese would be all be major improvements! This location has SO MUCH to offer. But, it’s being neglected in a terrible way.

Older hotel but very clean and in the middle of remodeling. We had a large room with a gorgeous view of the ocean. The property is very dog friendly which is why we chose it. My only suggestion is that they make sure there are door magnets available for everyone staying with their pet. We just used the don’t disturb but many rooms had magnets stating there was a pet inside and do not enter. We had a very relaxing, enjoyable stay with our four legged besties.

Ok, so it's a 2 star review but it does have potential. It was under renovation so could be why it was not up to par.Check in was quite a disaster. It's strictly a 4pm check-in, but there was a crowd of people waiting well after that. Something about lack of linens, which for a major hotel chain is unacceptable. Room we were in was clean, which was a plus but it was outdated, and the bathroom was falling apart and had zero water pressure. The pool area was gross. Kiddie pool was stagnant water no filter on. The main pool was dirty on the bottom and had water bugs all on the top. The outside area with sitting areas on the property was not maintained well and lots of things were broken or needed maintenance. I attribute much of this to a lack of hotel staff. The best thing about the hotel is its location. Right on the beach with a boardwalk right from the rooms. The beach is awesome. Flat walkable sand, warm water with small waves and no crowds.Noteworthy details: Its walkable when cool out but you can rent bikes for $10 + an hour just didn't have time to do it.

As of June 1, 2023, this hotel is under renovation inside so some of the would be amenities indoors, such as a free hot breakfast, are unavailable. As for the rest of it, the location is outstanding and, provided your room faces the ocean, the view cannot be beat. That's the good part. Here's the downside: the room smells like 1975. I see why some of the reviews said it's outdated. It's large and spacious, so there's that, but the beds are somewhat uncomfortable and the pillows are awful. The grounds outside are missing...something. This place could be so much more, but it isn't well kept. The outdoor bar was shut down for the night and I read they'd closed it in a couple of other reviews too. They told us a storm was coming, but none appeared. Had it been open, well lit, and well kept, it would've been lovely to sit by the ocean/pool/hot tub and enjoy a drink. A little music, some better outdoor lighting, towels by the pool, etc. are all little things that would make this place feel like an actual resort rather than the abandoned and unloved vibe it currently has.

We stayed here recently, we got a suite and paid the exact same price for an ocean front suite, as what we did for the hotel that is across the street from them last year. So the view from our balcony was incredible, we definitely enjoyed being able to open the door and see and hear the ocean so clearly. We also loved the size of the room definitely a bonus feature as well. I am giving a three star for a couple things, one the walls are EXTREMELY thin and the people on both sides of us were so loud and constantly were slamming their doors at 1-2 in the morning so that was a bit annoying, especially since it constantly triggered our dog to start barking, we also put down we had kids, but we were placed in a room that was a conjoined room, so that didn’t help with the noise from the neighbor either. Two, I get they are doing renovations, but we had to put stuff on pause because they had guys come to our room without notice or anything to change out the sleeper sofa. Three, our bathtub had mold/mildew growing along the caulk line, that’s such an easy fix, strip that caulk off, clean under it and apply the correct caulk before someone checks into that room. Lastly, the room could have been better cleaned, there was pieces of food in the sleeper sofa, and under the couch, so honestly, just tell your housekeepers to clean more thoroughly. You’re having people pay easily a thousand plus for a weekend trip, they should at least have a clean room and a bathtub free of mold/mildew.

Staff was great. Room 290 needs some help. I know they are renovating so hopefully it will make it to that room. Overall the room was ok, the shower fixtures were rusted and had that metal rot look. The bed was broken down from overuse on one side. The pillows had what appeared to be blood stains. It was black. I would have not saw that but I help clean up after I leave by making sure the next guest doesn’t sleep in my funk. I strip the beds and pillows and throw them in the bathroom. I think everyone should do that by the way. ?But would I stay there again?? Absolutely ? The view is amazing the staff is so sweet the restaurant was so clean and tasty. The laundry room was available. Overall my room was clean just a little dated. I was happy so was my husband. We had an amazing 4 day stay. ❤️Will be back in October 23.

It was raining the weekend we stayed here but even though we had good time. The restaurant had live music on a Friday, good selection of oldies. The food was good. I recommend the seafood pasta with mushrooms. Bikes everywhere so if you need the urgency to explore, just get a bike and start to pedal. The room was nice, in front of the ocean. I got my morning coffee watching people running and picking shells, hopefully somebody got a shark teeth.
