Price I reserved under was raised when I arrived. The room was 66 degrees and blowing air conditioning when I walked in. (Cold night already). The clock was wrong, and this fellow pictured welcomed me into my room.

I don not recommend this dirty hotel, you walk in to the hotel the floor is filthy. Front desk pp are nice. Hallways are very dirty too they don’t vacuum.Found roaches in my room and the same thing the carpet is dirty. Bathroom floor has long hair on the floor, hasn’t been cleaned. Towels stinks. Microwave falling from one side it almost fell on me . Laundry room is moldy and one one machine works and takes forever to wash your clothes .Met 5 pp checking out because of these issues. I’m checking now . Do not book unless you don’t care .

I've stayed at my fair share of cheap hotels. But $120 a night for bugs on the walls, drawers ripped out, and blood and piss stains on the sheets is a hard no.

I booked this hotel in advance before my return trip from visiting my family in the mid-Atlantic region. I book exclusively IHG Properties when I travel, so it just so happened this Candlewood Suites was in the area I was stopping in; as well as at a great price point.Although I have spent many nights at IHG Properties, this was the first time I have been at a Candlewood Suites. Reading the reviews I didn't have high hopes but, considering it was about $100 for a night out the door; there was no way I was going to pay $60 more to stay at the Holiday Inn or Holiday Inn Express that were close by.When I arrived at 7 pm to check-in I was greeted by an empty front desk with a “be right back”, or something to that extent sign. The phone was ringing, and I just stood there for around 15 minutes; helping another guest connect to the Wi-Fi along the way. When the clerk finally arrived, he was friendly and was willing to move my room to my preferred, top floor. Based on previous reviews I was skeptical but, the room was very much recently renovated. Everything was in working order and the room was clean other than a few hairs that weren't mine that popped. However, that will happen at 90% of places you stay no matter what the flag or specific brand you stay in.I had no issues with noise and slept soundly through the night in a new and comfortable bed, which was very firm; which I like personally. I was tired from the night before and didn't need to be at my next destination until later the next day. The front desk called me in the morning to see if I was leaving that day or staying over. It seemed somewhat odd that they would call and ask since I only booked one night but, either way it wasn't a burden.Overall, I was very happy with my stay. I would not let previous negative reviews keep you away as it is clear that the hotel has recently undergone major renovations. To address the elevator comment made my other former guests, I did hear a very small amount of noise only when going up before it would stop. Other than that it seems thah they have rectified the issue.Rooms: Recently Renovated

When I checked in the first night, the front desk associate, Willie, was so amazing I had high hopes. He was friendly, helpful, personable, and made me feel so comfortable. Those feelings were quickly dashed in the following days. I was supposed to stay here for over a month and checked out after 9 days.Recently "renovated" rooms? My recliner had drawings in marker all over it and sometimes reclined, sometimes, did not. Carpet had stains in several areas, utensils were rusty. Not what I would expect from a renovation. Dishwasher bottom rack coming off the track and dishwasher not in great shape in general.Kitchen missing the basics- one 1qt sauce pan and one 6" frying pan (with the teflon flaking) is all you get. No can opener, minimal utensils, etc. was told upon check in there is a cupboard you can check-out additional kitchen supplies, however, when I inquired at the front desk a few days later I was told they no longer do that and to "go to Walmart or Dollar General if you want anything else". Not my definition of a "fully equipped kitchen".That leads me to the staff. The staff is horrendous (other than Willie). They have a husband and wife employee that are living there with their young children who cone off parking spots for themselves in the front. She is a housekeeper and he is supposed to work the front desk, but is rarely there. While husband is supposed to be working the front desk, he has the wife leave the door to their room propped open so he can walk down all evening long. You can hear everything from that room, tv, kids playing, and you can definitely hear when he walks down the hall and stands at the door to have their numerous heated conversations. When I complained about the noise and asked them to please close the door, I was treated with disgust and disrespect from then on. The way they behaved and the permanent residence led me to believe they were owners or managers, but they are not. They made it to where I no longer felt comfortable staying there. Other than Willie, the entire staff is rude and unhelpful, especially if you bring up any type of issue.Pool does not have any chairs. No lounge chairs, no sitting chairs, nothing. It is literally just the pool and nothing else.Housekeeping once a week, which is pretty much the normal, however, when giving housekeeping my used towels I was told I would have to go to the front desk after 1PM because they did not have any clean towels to exchange them for. Each room only gets 2 bath towels and 2 washcloths and they did not have any towels for housekeeping to switch out on the scheduled room cleaning day?Do yourself a favor and pony up the extra pennies for another hotel and skip staying here. I switched to the Residence Inn down the street and it is cleaner, the staff is exceptional, and the amenities are much better.

I was told my room was recently renovated - ha! This hotel was gross. The stains on the carpet, chair, and bed added another dimension to the must in the air. On the bright side, the roach in the shower wasn’t the biggest I’ve ever seen. I was double charged the pet fee, but that refunded with little fuss. I asked for a credit due to hotel conditions and roach, but did not hear back.

Way to expensive for the rooms. Trash cans are completely overflowing around the establishment, the floors inside the rooms are so filthy that they turn your feet black if you walk without shoes. Our tub was literally cracked as you take a shower not knowing if you’re gonna fall through. Was told the pet fee was 70$ when I made the reservation for both of my dogs. When I got here was told $75 per pet. The tvs wouldn’t connect to Wi-Fi or YouTube or Netflix. The cups were dirty, as soon as I opened the silverware drWer the first spoon had food all over it. The dishwasher is literally rusting. We are on the second floor and wasn’t told that all the flooring was tore up in the hallways. So FYI all the flooring is tore up in the hallways and look absolutely horrible. For $300 and some change a night (including pet fee) I’d look somewhere else.. one more thing, they also told us if they had to do a deep clean it would be an extra $250… doesn’t look like these room have ever had a deep clean they certainly could use them though. ?Also the rooms in the suites do not have A/C vents there is only a connecting fan from the main area to the bedroom that’s suppose to push air in the bedroom. It doesn’t do a good job and is extremely hot in the rooms.

I had stayed here 3-4 years ago and had a great service experience yet decor felt it needed to be refreshed. Upon reading recent mixed reviews, I was confused on what to expect. After reading further on the IHG website that the hotel is undergoing renovations and reviews there, I felt more confident to book a vacation stay for 2 nights here.I can say WOW! The staff is hard working and very friendly. You can see that the hotel has reinvested with an updated decor and items. My two renovated rooms were clean and modern.I definitely recommend this place regardless of the travel purpose! Must try and will be back.

Update: we woke up to a cockroach and it’s cockroach egg in our bed.Very unclear how they got three whole stars. The whole place has an unpleasant odor and does not appear to ever be cleaned. Everything made of fabric in the room was full of stains, dust and other dirt in various places, and there was a hair in the bed sheets. When we asked to change rooms they said there was nothing they could do and just handed us a single new bedsheet… Also there were some lights in the room (smoke detector?) that were flashing brightly all night long. we got put up here by an airline that canceled our flight. Highly recommend avoiding.

If hotels could catfish this hotel would be on the show. Do Not trust the pictures online. When you first walk in you are hit with a smell, and as you travel through the hotel it get worst. Especially in the elevator!! The rooms are spacious but dated. Everything looks like it need a very deep clean. I paid over $500 for 2 nights I wasn’t expecting 5 star but I was expecting quality and cleanliness. Would not recommend

If I could rate a negative star, I would. This is a non-smoking hotel, but the room we were given smelled like someone had been smoking in it for years. We requested another room, and it was granted. The only elevator in the building smelled like a pack of teenagers had been in there without deodorant, and the smell doesn't go away. There's no ice maker because the refrigerator in your room makes ice. Guess who refrigerator didn't make ice??? ? There were not enough towels and blankets for another person until the next day. The hotel is obviously going thru renovations because the backside consists of piles and piles of old night stands and dresser drawers. This was our view when looking out the window and also by the pool and rest area. Never again for the amount of money we paid to stay there for 2 days.
