The experience with Hertz at SAV was great. I had a situation arise that left me with a car that didn’t have enough space for the guests arriving. I spoke with Chelsea—great customer service and follow through—and she was able to get me a resolution within an hour. Thank you Chelsea for your work, I appreciate it!

I will never rent from this Hertz location again. I filled the gas tank up before turning my rental vehicle back in, and made the mistake of not taking photographic proof of the full gas tank. These scammers charged me for $65 worth of gas that the car did not need, and refused to provide me with a refund when I sent them proof via my gas receipt. DO NOT RENT WITH HERTZ IN SAVANNAH.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, they do not answer the phone and every review reply they have is ai generated. I lost my AirPods in the car and they have been 0 help to get them back to me.

I was overcharged for car seats. My reservation said I needed to pay $132 (with tax) and I was charged $239.46. This was just for car seats; the remainder of the reservation was prepaid.
I contacted Hertz customer service. They told me this is an independent licensee and they can't issue refunds as a result, which is its own brand of incompetence, and to deal with this location directly. I called and it went to a full voicemail box. I will be pursuing a chargeback with my credit card.
Edit: The response below indicates that I should reach out to Hertz via Facebook Messenger. I did so several days ago, provided images of my contract and invoice, and the customer service agent told me that because this location is an independent licensee, they can't issue a refund to me. The agent also said they would provide my email and phone number to the location for them to reach out. They have not.
I have initiated a dispute with my credit card.
I wonder how you people remain in business with this level of customer service.

This review is not a reflection of the single person running back and forth between managing the desk and flipping the cars so that they’re ready for the next reservation. I was impressed by the level of professionalism she had while navigating a stressful situation.
I am a hertz gold member and followed the sign that directed me straight to the cars. Once there, there wasn’t a single hertz member outside. I waited for about 10 minutes before someone finally showed up and told me that they didn’t think that I was coming and took my key back to the front desk. She told me that I had to go back inside and collect at the front desk. I’m assuming that she then went on break or that was the end of her shift because I didn’t see her again. I was the 4th person in line and it took about an hour before I was able to collect my key that was sitting there with my name and reservation number. I paid and checked in prior to pick up. All I had to do was pick up the keys. I even got a message from Hertz telling me that I’m late to pick up my reservation and they will hold it for 2 hours past my pickup time. Truly ridiculous.
Hertz Savannah needs to be more operationally strategic. How are you going to have only ONE PERSON working at any time let alone on the first day of summer in a city that gets a lot of tourists.
Hertz, be better for your employees and your customers.
Edit: I hope that they actually try to improve instead of copying and pasting the same response to each negative review.

I would not recommend renting from this Hertz location. The car was fine, the price was good, and the agent at the desk was friendly. But once you leave the desk, you're 100% on your own. The office does not answer the phone and the mailbox is always full. If something went wrong with the rental, you'd be stuck.
This Hertz location does not do a walk-around of the car with you before you leave the airport. If there's a scratch or dent on the the car before you leave the parking lot, you take a photo of the damage and send it to an email they provide on the rental receipt. My car had a big scratch, so I sent in a photo. I never heard back from anyone and it took me almost a month to get a final receipt (on the Hertz site - I was never emailed a receipt). It was a long time before I knew if I was going to get charged for pre-existing damage to the car.
Bottom line: if you can afford to rent from another business - do it.

Quick process that took about 15 minutes. Staff were friendly and the car was in great condition. Highly recommend Hertz.

This location is a Hertz franchise location, and it is easily the worst rental experience each time I’m here. We visit Savannah 1-2x per year, and I’m a loyal Hertz Gold Club member, but every time, this location never ceases to frustrate us and let us down. They often are out of cars (even though you have a reservation), you have to wait forever to get a car (can’t just walk out, select and go), the service is grumpy, and we just dread the process every time. Their car selection always falls short of expectations as well; very little variety, lots of crummy sedans.
Please, Hertz, make this a corporate location and bring it up to the standards we expect!

Why no value placed on moving ready customers with Gold status through the line?
Wait an hour what others do in 10 minutes.
Never use this Hertz location as they are very very very ….you get the point slow. With no awareness of how priority works. I never post but had to post today…time is valuable

As a Gold member and a frequent Hertz renter, this is by far the worst location yet. Still have to wait in line (in our case it was an hour) and you don’t get to select your vehicle. Additionally, they tacked on an additional charge at the counter after I’d already paid for my reservation online. This was definitely a new one! Go elsewhere.

This would be -10 stars if possible. This is probably the worst rental location in the USA. Be forewarned they are a franchise and corporate Hertz cannot help with any issues. If you have the option to walk, bike, skateboard or take a horse and buggy they are all better options than renting from this location. Be prepared for horribly long lines and terrible service. Don’t walk, RUN away from them.

This rental place is the worse! I usually go to the Abercirn location. Where customer service is 100 percent better. For the first time I was sent outside to a booth where everybody was more concern about social media than handling the customer!

Honestly the worst hertz I’ve ever been to. I’m a five star rental status. Had to wait an hour in line, because they said they didn’t have keys at the desk.
Meanwhile there is literally 5 employees at the computer screens behind the desk, almost in tears because of course everyone is upset in a line of about 20 people. When they said they didn’t have keys I was under the assumption the lot was quite a ways away. Thinking a shuttle needed to be taken to the rental lot….. WRONG, the lot is quite literally two steps outside the airport. So instead of getting up and grabbing keys from the return lot they literally just sat there, one representative said man it’s pretty busy here. I do remember it getting like this last year.. well duh, it’s Memorial Day weekend. So instead of staffing correctly or moving positions around to make sure cars are cleaned and keys returned they did absolutely nothing. What a piss poor run franchise. Who ever bought this franchise is not good business and hurting the hertz brand name. Should consider selling. I think it’s some company called thrifty car rentals (sounds about right) as this is a poverty franchise at this airport. Was not a great way to start off our golf trip.

Many of the poor reviews are from a while ago. Just in case you think things have improved, they haven't! There were only two car rental places open and both had long lines! I don't know what the solution is? I would look for another option before visiting Savanah. Maybe just don't visit??
