The full kitchen is an added bonus, as there are not many eating places immediately nearby, though there are food trucks and stands within a few miles, including recommendations for pizza, banana bread, and a local restaurant. Nearby activities include Waiʻānapanapa State Park, the Hana Lava Tubes, and Kahanu Garden. Guests are advised to be safe and courteous on the road to Hana, using turnouts frequently. Some minor drawbacks mentioned include a stuffy room without A/C until fans are used, an occasional very old pull-out couch, and pricing that can feel high in the low season. Overall, it is considered a nice place to stay for an outdoor adventure, providing a wonderful experience that feels like home.
We rented Unit #207 from Tom and Viki directly on VRBO. They are fabulous hosts and it was a terrific unit. Everything you need to explore this side of the island and relax. The rooms and building are aging and could use some love. But the location and views are outstanding and the reason we keep coming back.
