This place was worth the drive! We drove to Hana and stayed here two nights. Susie one of the owners checked us in. She was so hospital and gave great advice. A little hard to get something to eat in area but we came prepared. Our room with the INCREDIBLE view had a full kitchen.Rooms: Our one bedroom suite was perfect!

Kudos to their manager for accommodating us at 10pm one night! We were unable to get to Hosmer grove due to a landslide in Haleakala National Park and were driving around Hana looking for a spot - found this place. They gave us a discounted price and the apartment was gorgeous, comfortable, tropical in decor and the views were spectacular.

Amazing place with access to a beach that is better than the black sands beach. This place was built with some serious craftsmanship with beautiful views of Hana bay. I highly recommend Hana Kai as the best accommodations in Hana!Rooms: Rooms are beautiful and modern with great accommodations. Everything is up-to-date and the views are incredible.Nearby activities: Hana is Hana, plenty of nearby activities, including the black sand beach and hiking trails to beautiful waterfalls, as well as surfing.Food & drinks: Plenty of food and drink within several minutes.Noteworthy details: This place does not have air-conditioning, but is well equipped with masterfully, crafted, ventilation system, windows, and sliding doors.

More a condo than hotel. Kitchen was stocked well for making meals. Hana is a beautiful area of Maui. We had stayed in this condo at Hana Kai 9 years before. We booked the same condo and were rather disappointed this time. Private owners of the condos located on this property supply beach chairs, boogie boards, coolers and other such amenities to their renters that afford them the ability to truly enjoy the area. This condo had been purchased by the company and, as it was explained to me, the company (Hana Kai) does not provide these to their renters. Our condo 206 was right next door to a privately owned condo. Also there is no store in Hana or the area that rent or sell beach chairs. We booked a stay for 5 nights with the intention of spending a couple of relaxing days on the beach as we'd been able to do on our first stay here. While it's in a beautiful location I would definitely stay here again; however, I would be prepared by purchasing or renting beach chairs to use during the stay prior to getting on the road to Hana.

We only spent one night in Hana but had a great stay in Hana Kai Maui. We had a beautiful ocean view from our room and saw a beautiful sunrise from our porch. The kitchen was well equipped. Because Hana is a small town and everything closes early the units are stocked with a variety of board games which was great! We hope to return in the near future!

If you are looking to explore Hana and all the magic it has to offer, this is an incredible place to stay! The quality of Hana Kai Maui is top notch. You can feel that a ton of care went into this property and the experience for guests. The photo I attached was from the sunrise I was able to witness from my bedroom. This place is peaceful, high quality in every way, and a treasure in the midst of a magical rainforest.

Everything was perfect about this place. Staff was awesome and friendly, location was awesome and the unit we had was clean and had the perfect views. We didn't want to leave it. So peaceful listening to the ocean and waking to the beautiful sunrises. We will definitely stay here again next time we are in Hana.

We loved our two night stay at the Hana Kai. Amanda at the front desk was so welcoming and kind. The grounds were so beautiful and serene. The view was top notch watching the waves roll in on the black sand beach. No need for AC- the ocean breeze and ceiling fans kept us comfortable all day and night. We are SO GLAD we chose to stay here over any other accommodations.

Stayed a night and enjoyed our stay. Clean rooms with that nice ocean breeze. We didn't have any issues with the place heating up with no AC, but again we checked in relatively late and left relatively early. Nice views of the ocean with beach access (mainly rocky but there is a spot where it is sandy that you can go out for a swim if you are a strong swimmer).

My partner and I are currently staying here on vacation. We just extended our stay from 2 nights to 3 because it’s just. That. Good! The beach has spectacular sunrises and sunsets, the location is spectacular, and the rooms are extremely comfortable! The perfect little getaway for all couples, families, and singles!

We have been coming to this place for over 25 years and LOVE it. No TV, No air conditioning just rural Hawaii and trade winds to keep you cool. The unit we had was as usual lovely though the sound transmission from the upper floor was pretty bad as the people above were heavy and frequent walkers. But the reason I have given it three stars is the price. At the best part of $1300 US for two nights it has become prohibitively expensive.

Stayed here for one night and wish it was more. Good location, well-maintained unit. Really serene. Get here early afternoon to enjoy the town, your unit, beaches etc. Food trucks close around 7:30pm and are a hit.

Amazing, my fiancé and I wish we would have spent our whole trip at this hotel because it was perfect. We only did one night but would have rather done all 5! Stay here for longer than a night.

Clearly this place does not care about safety. Downed trees, flash flood watches, closed roads, and they refuse to refund our stay since we could not make it out. This was for one night only. Very bad business practices. We would even love to experience on another day, but they would rather take our money for what? To teach us a lesson? I believe that putting the emergency responders at risk was not worth forcing a trip to Hana during a Kona low pressure storm. Full disclosure: I am speaking with community leaders and legal representatives. This is beyond getting a refund. This is to a point where a Maui business is promoting the idea that you should travel in harsh road conditions to make it to your reservation. Any other local business would simply refund or reschedule not force you to take a chance. The representative said the weather was not bad. Then why did the county close the road to get there? We were supposed to chance the weather getting better and getting stuck in Hana? Does this seem like it was the right thing to do? I think this is exactly the opposite of what people want businesses to do. Do the right thing. Understand that the roads were a mess (flooding on the westside) and reschedule, but instead they would rather care about $300. This is principle. Shame on you. Shame on your attitude of the whole situation. You are not a part of the solution, you are a part of the tourism issue that Maui and the Island of Hawaii have. You value $ over the safety and respect of the island. Shame. I have cross posted this review with pictures from the COUNTY OF MAUI facebook that urge people to prepare for the storm.
