“my family and I stayed here for 3 nights to attend a funeral... the rooms were perfect and quaint... had everything we needed (a bed, shower, AC, fridge and microwave)... its close to the farmer's market, a few bars and eateries, as well as shopping along Hilo Bay Front and some little hole in the wall places ... then this is a cute little spot for you ...if you're looking for posh... this isn't it...we're looking forward to our next visit there... thank you Neil”

“Amazing spot! We could spend hours here admiring the surf, weather, and lounging on the deck/pool/hot tub. Highly recommend. Short drive to town. Even a cheap Uber if wanted. Breakfast wasn’t amazing (enjoyed the egg and piece of local fruit), but it was ok - would have liked more local fruit. Thanks for a great stay.”

“A very beautiful and unique place to spend some time on the Big Island. The falls are incredible and definitely make having to go to Rainbow and Akaka considerably less necessary. We were situated in the Harmony House in the Orchid Room. Located close to the falls you could listen to the falls and frogs as you fell asleep. Breakfast was served overlooking the falls and was delicious. Only two slight downsides - wifi was spotty and with no cell reception it made it tedious to plan the next day’s activities. Additionally, they have kayaks and SUP boards but you have to rent them separately from your room rental which should be included in my opinion. Would definitely recommend for a unique couple of nights if you’re hanging out on the Hilo side.”

“Very warm and friendly staff with affordable pricing. It is not a typical hotel, so there is no staff on the weekend but Su checked us in and kept in contact via text to make sure to let her know if we need anything. There is a lock box where you get your keys if you have a late check in. Air-conditioner and queen size bed was in our room but some don't have a/c. The bathroom and sink is inside the bedroom but the shower is shared between five other rooms. Very clean and nicely decorated bedrooms. The bed was very comfortable and we felt at peace here with a very relaxing and island vibe. The curtains had pretty Hawaiian design and the interior was painted white. There was a large walk in closet with plenty of closet space and hangers. Outside, there was a large grassy area to sit and relax. We had a view of the beautiful Catholic church and in the evening we left our screen window open to hear the singing going on in the church. The location is good because it is within walking distance of downtown area. They also offer yoga classes, massage therapy, detox therapy and others such as acupuncture and acupressure all in one location. Wonderful place for a relaxing retreat!”

“Lovely older hotel on the bay. If you like pretentious hotels, this is not for you. The rooms were quiet, clean and everything was as described. We had the bay view room which was worth the extra money. Still a great value.”

“Before checking in , I kind of expect what/how it is as it’s an old hotel and only 2 star . But overall , I liked my stay . Very convenient location in downtown Hilo . Everything is within walking distance - shops , restos , farmer’s market , etc . Hilo attractions are few minutes drive from the hotel . Staff are friendly including the cats :)Walkability: Close to shops and restos .”
“We stopped on in Hilo for a couple nights and stayed at the Dolphin Bay Hotel, two bedroom apartment. The rooms were very clean, well maintained and the beds were comfy. The hotel is within walking distance to downtown Hilo...most convenient!! The kind women at the front desk was so friendly and most helpful. The bannana bread and papaya breakfast was so fantastic!! The gardens around the hotel were also very beautiful.Rooms: Very comfortable and clean.Walkability: Close to downtown”
