An immersion in native island culture, lifestyle, conservation. A spiritual place where the ancestors are smiling. Authentic crafts, art, card games, great stickers in the back, and loads of books on everything Hawaiian and Polynesian -- tattoos, navigation, surfing, native Hawaiian language, children's books, Hawaiian culture and history.

If you are looking for something powerful, this is your place. AMAZING selection of Hawaiian books -- literature, botany, History, language, cultural studies and more -- many written by Hawaiians, a few by outsiders looking in. Great gifts, clothes, games, jewelry, body stuff, stickers...all very good quality. I spent at least an hour in the shop, taking it all in, before purchasing 2 books (one Critical Reader on Surfing + Surf Culture; one about Hawaiian spirituality). And I wish I'd have grabbed the one on the Banyan Trees in Hilo. Or the great sail from Hawaii to Tahiti. As a visitor to the islands, I should probably read about colonialism and the current sovereignty movement so I can understand the conversation. Next time, I'll bring a bigger suitcase (LOL).The vibe is just WOW! If you want to go deeper into Hawaiian culture and language, I encourage you to stop by.
