Friends of the Pana'ewa Zoo Gift Shop is part of a non-profit organization supporting the zoo. All proceeds promote the zoo, educate visitors, provide for special animal needs, enhance the lives of the resident animals, nurture the rainforest environment, and encourage compassion towards animals. The zoo itself is an absolute gem and a very unique, cool, and wonderful visit. It is a great place to bring the keiki for a great animal experience and to learn, offering a very fun and chill experience in a pretty tropical atmosphere. It features a great balance of unique animals, including a famous white tiger, and a superb, almost botanical garden-level collection of plants. There is a large, brand new playground, one of the best around. It is hard to believe this awesome little zoo is still free. Plan to spend one or two hours, and you can bring lunch and drinks to enjoy. The gift shop has great gifts and drinks to refresh your hydration, and the staff is great.
We came to visit the zoo during our vacation. Our kids loved seeing the animals and really enjoyed the playground. The popup burger vendor outside of the zoo is a must and a great deal (burger, chips and shaved ice for $7.00). It was delicious!

Small, pleasant and free zoo (donation possible) to see.We were lucky enough to see tigers 1 meter away.
