***DO NOT BANK HERE***
Been a customer for over 4 years. Had an overdraft, called customer service. Waited 2 HOURS, (no call back option), told that they could not reverse a $30 charge, even with this being my first. CUT THROAT. Then I asked if they could link my savings with checking for overdraft protection, and told me they couldn’t do it. Has to be in person. WASTE OF TIME. I will be pulling all of my accounts from this worthless mess they call banking.

I like First Hawaiian Bank. I’ve banked with them for 20 years. This branch in Hawaii Kai is the worst for wait times and teller processing times. The worst! Parking is easy. But plan to wait 15-20 minutes anytime you come and need a teller. I also go to Kapahulu and Aina Haina a lot. Those both get 5 stars. Those branches are fast and easy. They have little or no wait and they process at least 2-3 times faster at the teller. Not sure why they can’t get it right in Hawaii Kai. I live closest to the Hawaii Kai branch and I go out of my way to visit a different branch as much as possible. Bank is good though overall.

The greediness of this bank is clearly reflected in taking up 30 parking stalls (66% of the spots are always vacant even during bank hours!) by 24hr Fitness, so there are too few left for 24hr Fitness customers. You don't need 30 reserved parking stalls, FHB!! 12 should be sufficient. And learn some Aloha Spirit instead of threatening to tow cars that aren't doing active business in the bank. Your greed has driven you to sit on way too many parking stalls, that are just empty. What's the point with the greed? Those TOW signs make you look evil. "How you do one thing is how you do everything. " - Zen Buddhidm. Share some Aloha, FHB.

Trying to save a few dollars, this already profitable bank closed several branches such as the Hawaii Kai branch on Saturdays. At Kahala the line is 27 customers long and some have been waiting 30 minutes. This is the "bank that cares"?

I received my new debit card after waiting 2 weeks and the envelope wasn't even sealed. The correspondence was just inserted into the envelope and mailed.Seriously?I had to cancel my card because my debit card was compromised and the new card was just mailed for anyone to access.

I went on to exchange money (received Canadian Money) as a tip. Simply $25 which would have been roughly $18. The teller says it will be $25 fee, to exchange it. WHAT IN THE WORLD. That's absolutely ABSURD. Funny while standing on line I was thinking I should open an account here. Absolutely NOT. Aaannnnn the teller lady was rude. ASHTIK then young man assisting looked embarrassed. HORRIBLE. Don't open an account here.

Trust department is full of gossip, uneducated ladies. The team leader Kemi Ho only has a high school diploma & did not go to college, her husband is a taxi driver fixing someone's car (cash only, and disturbing the community by noise and sewage), but she act like she knows more than those JDs. How can customers trust the "Trust" department of FHB, if these people are not honest and has no reputation in the community?

I no longer have any account there. But I needed to get a release of title as I mistakenly threw my paper away. I was helped by John Julian (I think that was his name) he was so very helpful and got everything done for me. Thank you John , I really appreciate the help.

The workers go above and beyond for their bankers. I appreciate all that they did to clear my check overnight due to my personal situation I was in at the moment.

I rarely write one star reviews but the Hawaii Kai First Hawaiian branch is one star in design and service. This is sad to see because I used to come here regularly. It was always busy but a friendly and efficient place to bank. Then they redesigned it.Its sleek inside but is an uncomfortable place to do your banking. Rather than teller windows, they have podiums, like when you board a plane. When you walk into the bank, there are a line of booths and desks where bank employees sit, and then a large space where customers have to stand to wait until motioned forward by a teller. Behind the podiums is a glassed off area where there are desks. After the redesign, I came back to the Hawaii Kai branch but service was really slow and I do not like to stand and wait in the middle of a room and do my banking transactions at a podium that offers little privacy so started to go to Aina Haina instead. But a week ago, I was running late so had to stop at the Hawaii Kai branch to make it before closing. When I arrived at 3:30, there were 3 people waiting ahead of me and we waited for at least 15 minutes, Both tellers were talking to customers that seemed to have problems, not just cashing checks, etc. What was annoying was that behind the glass partition, two bank employees stood and chatted the whole time and in the office cubicles, at least two bank employees sat at desks with no customers. Finally one of the women in the cubicles got up and asked if people just needed to cash a check. By the time I got up to do my banking, the bank was closed. One of the two tellers was still helping the same woman as when I arrived. When I went to leave, the front door was locked so I walked over and asked to be let out. After waiting 5 minutes, I had to go back and ask to be let out again. The two women standing and chatting behind the glass, never moved the whole 45 minutes I was in the bank. Next time, I guess I'll just wait and do my banking at another branch.

Employees are great. They're doing the best they can. It's the President, Robert Harrison, making bad decisions. The banks are understaffed, always lines, & it appears they changed computer input bc a simple deposit should take a very short time but not any more. Slow. Cumbersome. I feel sorry for the tellers. I've banked with FHB for 40 years. This is the worst leadership I've seen.

Small charges for everything. Not enough staff. Very slow turn around for out of state or Venmo or transfers. Bank elsewhere
