Ice Palace Hawaii is the only ice skating rink on Oahu and is a very family friendly place. It is a fun and cute destination, described as the best Christmas activity in Hawaii. The rink offers public sessions for beginners and novice skaters, with a small roped-off area in the front featuring "skating trainers" for children. There is a separation on the ice between novice and more confident skaters. For advanced skaters, there are freestyle sessions, although very early in the morning. The facility also offers classes for both adults and kids, with all the coaches noted as great. It is definitely chilly inside, so dressing appropriately is advised. Admission is $18.99 per person to skate, including skate rentals. Lockers for personal items cost .50ยข, quarters only, each time they are unlocked. The location can get very busy and crowded later in the day. The novice area is very small, which can lead to a lot of falls in close proximity. Thankfully, there is always at least one employee on the ice keeping an eye out. Sizes of the skates can be limited for people with larger shoe sizes. No food or drink are allowed inside, but there is a concession stand with pizza, hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, hot chocolate, and more. Some soft drinks and water are also available. There is no reentry once you enter or exit. The rink has good music throughout and a decent sized skating area. There is a small table area for groups to sit and watch, a small arcade area for non-skaters, and a readily accessible restroom. The customer service is super nice and the staff are helpful, though sometimes spread a little thin. It was an fun and great experience for all.
