Keep in mind this review is for the rental surf board and not the surfing lesson.The rental surf board uses 3 fins and a cheaper construction compared to the lesson board. 3 fins vs 1 fin means it will be harder to paddle (due to more drag) and standing up straight as a beginner.Just 30 mins in I've noticed right away the surf board is not suitable for me, size and construction wise and I asked one of the staff at Ohana SP if I can pay more to switch to a different surf board. I was rejected by the staff. It ended up being a horrible surf day for me.Even my friend who were with me who surfed about 20 times agreed that it wasn't a good surf board for a beginner.Definitely my worst day on the Island, thanks to OSP's rental surf board.

We (a "non-aquatic" family from Alaska) signed our 10 year old up for a private two hour lesson, and it exceeded all of our expectations.Miguel, the instructor was phenomenal, helping him paddle out and keep up with group of older and stronger surfers. Our son rode plenty of waves, and received great instruction and feedback throughout.The picture/video team was awesome too. Capturing stunning movies and images, and cheering him along all the way.I feel like this was safe, fun, and exciting intro to surfing - for kids, adults, or families!

Family was visiting and wanted a surf lesson. We choose Ohana Surf Project because they are highly recommended!! I now know why. Booking was simple. Jenny had excellent customer service. We were greeted with smiles and excitement when we arrived. The team is professional, encouraging and fun. All 4 of us were able to stand up on our boards! Ages 12- 50!!! We felt safe with all the instructors- Cole and Alana were great!! The best part was the photos!!! Thank you Chelsie for the memories!!! We will cherish them forever!!! (BUY THE PHOTOS!) Worth every penny!! Thank you!!!

Awesome surf company! OSP was recommended to me by a friend who lives in Oahu, and they did not disappoint! My sister and I took a couple semi-private lessons, and Miguel and Mark were our instructors-both were awesome! Miguel was great for getting us started, and even on a day where the waves weren't great he made sure we had a good time. Mark gave us great tips during our second lesson to help us catch the waves by ourselves and stay up longer. Would highly recommend this company if you're trying to surf in Waikiki!

The staff overall was amazing and our coach Romeo did an amazing job with my daughter. The owners made us feel very welcomed and even offered us a ride back in their personal vehicle (we did the one hour family lesson) instead of having us wait for the shuttle. My 12 year daughter was able to catch a few waves and is addicted to surfing now. Me, I was a little out of shape and got exhausted easily. We will definitely book with them again on our next trip back to the island.

Excellent experience with great team support! Kevin was our coach for the 2-hour lesson and he was the absolute best! He was excellent at guiding and coaching adjustments for us to be able to stand up on the board. Kevin was so kind to tow my wife and I in to get as much surfing in. It was nice to see how each team member supported each other and other surfers in the water. Highly recommend lessons from this team of surfers and will definitely come back for more lessons! Hopefully I will be a little more fit the next go around -- my Hawaiian food belly got in the way! Would be nice if they shared some cultural information about surfing--I was told by a local that we pray and ask for permission before entering the ocean as homage and respect.

My wife and I did a 2 person session as a last minute why not we are in Hawaii. Man it was awesome. We had Kevin as the main instructor. But everyone was super nice, positive, and created an awesome experience. They pick up and drop off from hotels in Waikiki area (for sure the Hilton village). Their video and picture package is reasonable. We never buy photos and videos when we travel but did this time because the fee was fair and we got some gorgeous shots. We did this the first week of March and both my wife and I are out of shape and did fine. While it looks far out where they take you it is actually quite shallow (depending on the tide and area). They do a great job allowing people to go at your own pace and really push that. My wife took a few breaks and the wind drifted her and they actually when and picked her up to help her. The hardest part for us was the swimming back to the "starting line". Your arms will be dead but you will have awesome company, a smile, sun, waves, and memories. 100% don't blink and book with them you will not regret!!

Great surfing lessons! Gunner was super nice and made the lesson a great experience. All of the teachers were making sure things ran smoothly while also keeping safety a priority.

This was my first time surfing and it was awesome! All of the instructors were very helpful and kept a close eye on everyone. Jayden helped our group and he did amazing! You can’t go wrong with choosing Ohana surf project for surf lessons! They won’t disappoint :)

Been wanting to surf for a long time living here in Hawai'i, finally booked with Ohana Surf Project and had a BLAST!!! Kevin was an awesome coach, encouraging and easy to learn from. Kaimana took great action shots from the water. I will definitely be booking again soon and am looking forward to advancing my skills! Highly recommend.

Cole was an amazing coach he is very patient and made sure we are doing the pop up correctly, all the team are very very friendly, we got great videos and pictures and happy with it. They do pick up and drop off. Also they are quick in responding your text if u have any question. I do recommend them .
