“The fellow working here is really helpful. It's a tiny cubicle of a post office; blink and you'll miss it. You need to make sure you bring cash with you, which can be hard to remember in our plastic society. The hours are also really short; gotta make sure you get there in time. And I've already received my packages that were mailed to the mainland. Great delivery price as well. I highly suggest coming here to take care of your delivery needs.”
“I was here today to mail some used clothes and a gym bag to my daughter in the Mainland. And because it was bunch of clothes, it was heavy. I knew it wasn’t going to be cheap. So I asked a lady at the counter (Samantha) not expecting any helpful advice. “Ma’am, what will be the best (cheapest)way to send this box to the mainland?” She said “let me weigh it first and then let’s figure it out!” She then weighted my box and said “this thing is heavy, the best(Cheapest) way for you to Mail this, will be in a large flat rate box!” And then she Pointed out where I could find that box.
When I tried to put my pre-packed bag into the large flat rate box, the box would not close. I was so disappointed and worried that now it’s gonna cost me a fortune to send this with the regular rates. That’s when she came to rescue me and said “ oh no, The box has to be completely closed and Show no gaps Between the wings… Here, let me help you!”
She then took the box and pressed, closed tightly and taped it so well it was almost like an air proof!! And then with a big smile on her face she said “now you can send it with a flat rate!” As if she just saved her own money or something…
Samatha, thank you so much for your kindness and compassion.
Dear director/manager of this post office,
Please give Samantha a raise or promotion! she well deserves it!
Mahalo~~”
“I had the extreme pleasure of being served by Faye last week, and the experience couldn't have gone smoother. She was about to step around the counter when she saw that I was carrying a heavy package but I ran up so she instead reached over the counter to pull it up. She then proceeded to very sweetly and patiently walk me through the entire process of sending the package to Japan. I can't remember when I've had a more pleasant interaction at the post office. She is a definite asset to the Kaimuki branch as well as the entire U.S. Postal system!”
“People hating on the USPS need to chill. It isn't a business, it's a government service. It is part of the baseline, rudimentary infrastructure that makes things run, like roads or emergency services. UPS, Fedex, etc. would not be profitable businesses if they were responsible for providing the services that USPS does, such as deliver mail to rural locations, provide low price flat rate shipping, and media mail. I agree that USPS could be more efficient and sometimes can be frustrating and slow, but we can't have widely accessible public infrastructure if companies like FedEx and UPS don't pay their fair share of taxes, underpay their employees, and only operating in regions which are profitable, leaving the unprofitable parts to USPS, our friends and public servants.”
“A great post office location. Convenient with lots of easy parking. Helpful staff, good supplies, and decent post office boxes. Baffling that they were going to shut this location down.”

“Just reminiscing, the photo of the bricks? There use to be a commune living building here, where you shared the kitchen and bathroom. Held a lot of people for I know. I used to live in it and every Mom had a place when it came to the children. Some worked and some babysitters and others cooks. I hope the post office people don't mind, matter of fact ?? I'm glad that they are here for this was a safe place to be, and so are they.”
“I'm going to buck the trend on the other reviews and say that I for the most part enjoy the service that I receive at this post office. I can't recall the woman's name that's usually on the right side of the counter, but she's always been very pleasant and helpful. There are some upgraded storage lockers that I haven't used yet but overall the location is kept clean and presentable.”
“Mailing an Easter gift to the mainland from Honolulu, Hawaii...I found an appropriate gift for my God daughter in Virginia and needed to mail it. Several post offices in the downtown area were closed on a Saturday and some don't have free parking.I remembered the Kahala location of the US Postal Service and drove there. There were several empty stalls and a short line of customers inside. I tried the self-service kiosk, but my package was an unusual shape. I stood in line for a few minutes and in no time, I was done! I think my gift will arrive in time for Easter!Thank goodness for the Kahala Post Office and its efficient, competent staff! I appreciate the air conditioning, free Flat Rate Boxes, and clean environment! I'll be back!”
“Super easy and convenient experience. I’m so glad another reviewer mentioned there’s a parking lot across Pensacola under the bridge. Plenty of parking spots open vs the small parking lot next to the post office. There’s a self-service kiosk in the foyer of the building where you can do nearly anything you need to… Print labels, ship packages, get insurance for your package, weigh and measure dimensions for packages. And the foyer is open even during off hours, so you can visit the Post Office when there’s no line and do your business then. There was a super friendly and helpful lady in the foyer today assisting people as well! Zero complaints, will definitely use this location again.”

“I had to urgently intercept an important mail that unfortunately had the wrong address listed. When I came, it was not too crowded at all. The person who really went out of their way to help me that day was Alfredo, he called the supervisor immediately to inform the carrier to halt the return of the mail and promptly contacted me when it was back at the post office. I appreciate it so much. Thank you again! Mahalo”
“Today 7/24/24 is the 3rd time in a month your postman has delivered my and my neighbors mail to the wrong mailboxes. I’m complaining for my neighbor as well. What’s going on??? We live on Hinano St 96815. Please be more accurate. Mahalo!”
“I love the convenient after hours of it being open for the working class. I usually can't make it to any post office but this location closes later at 8pm on weekdays! New discovery of this location has made it possible to get boxes out if need be. Service is great too, they are quick and friendly. There is a nice breeze sometimes too while waiting in line. :)”
“Wow lots of complaining here but I've never really had a bad experience and I live here in Hawaii Kai and visit this post office regularly. Looks like most of the one star reviews are from pessimistic people who like to complain and therefore life gives them things to complain about. The rest seem to be people who don't follow instructions. Anyway, I think this post office and its workers are pretty great!”
“I went here on a weekday afternoon about 25 minutes before closing, three people in front of me in line, two employees : I was in and out, having posted my package and bought stamps within five minutes. Good experience.”
“The gentleman who runs this post office was very friendly and helpful when we came. He suggested us use the flat rate box because it’d be cheaper. They’re cash only though so remember to bring your cash!
The location is on the second floor to the far end if you can’t find it.”
