I went to this lounge because I wanted to watch airplanes.
This is a sub-self lounge with compact facilities overall. The meals seem to be the same, so it's recommended for those who want to avoid crowds. Minus 1 point because it is a little far from the central gate!

This is a waiting room (lounge) for people boarding JAL planes (business class and above).
Serves simple food, drinks and alcohol. Wi-Fi is also available for free, so you can send emails or post on SNS before returning home.
Be careful not to drink too much or get too comfortable and miss your flight.
The toilet is located just outside the lounge (on the same floor). It's clean and equipped with a washlet.

The lounge has a nice view from the window 👌 The types of food are very limited, so I think it would be better to relax and look at the outside scenery ☘️

So 9ve only experienced Delta and American Airline lounges during my travels. This time, I got to visit an affiliate lounge in Honolulu, the Sakura Lounge, part of Japan Airlines. I received an email from American during my travels letting me know I have access to the lounge and how to get there in the terminal. There is an elevator and stairwell to go up to the second floor hallway, which leads to the lounge. When ypu walk towards the counter you'll notice the bathrooms are actually in the hallway outside of the lounge. Itself. The receptionists were friendly and greeted us and asked what airline we were flying with. Once confirming our airline, they checked our boarding passes and crdledit cards, which give us access to the lounge. They gave us info on the layout of the lounge and let us know we could ask them if we needed anything. The lounge is setup In a rectangular format with paded chairs set around the edges and sets of four chairs at low tables on the outside edges of the rectangle. The longside of the rectangle had larger cafe style tables with padded chairs. The long side also had a bar with wine, beer, and pre.ium spirits. Food was on the right side of the lounge with 5 different options.Got my dad a Chivas on rocks and red wine for my mom...ginger ale for me. Then it was time to get some food. There was a fried chicken nugget option, kind of like chickfila nuggets, a chicken curry with rice, a pork and miso soup, ratatouille, and a fruit cup. Yhere were also assorted rice noodles snacks, pastries, and other munchies. I really enjoyed the curry and ratatouille. The other main goods were just ok. When you're done eating and drinking, they have little stands ypu leave everything on and they come by and pick them up. Compared to American's Admmirals Club, I think the food was better, but the chairs are not as nicely padded. My guess is Asian and Americans have slightly different derrieres hence the different padding. All in, I'd definitely enjoy going back to the lounge. It's always worth it to get food and sit in an air conditijned lounge in padded chairs versus the airport terminal itself. By the way, if ypu aren't a card holder with access, you can purchase day passes. But it can get expensive if ypu have multiple travelers. But if the comfort is worth it, splurge. For those that love to drink, the alcoholic beverages are included!

The Sakura Lounge is spacious, but the food spread is limited. The food served is good and tasty, especially the curry rice. There are alcohol drinks served as well. Toilet facilities are just outside the lounge area. There are charging facilities available.

Pro-tip: Enjoy the lounge by allowing yourself enough time. They have a nice meal and ramen for everyone.Ambience: 5*Service: 5*Taste: 4*Options: 4*Enjoyed this lounge on our way home from Hawaii. Be sure to use the app or just go the third floor in the terminal 2. Some sinkage suggests this lounge is at the bottom floor but it is not. It is on the 3rd floor.Nice and cool, ample seating with tables and good food options. I had the chicken curry and miso soup. Both we're very good. They also have ramen soup for anyone interested right next to the food area. It is the instant type and it is exactly what you expect. Very nice way to enjoy the last parts of your vacation.

My first time in this lounge transiting through to Asia. Pros:1. It is large with a lot of windows and natural light. 2. The AC works well and is a relief after the sweaty cattle call they label as security checkpoint 3. 3. There are many places to sit that utilize both counter work seating and also a lot of dining type tables and individual comfy chairs. 4. WiFi works well and the personnel are attentive and courteous. Cons:1. Although this is in the US, they adhere to the much stricter Japanese COVID-19 rules. There is a mask requirement and there are individual plexiglass iso-shields up everywhere which gives the impression that you are in a sterile lab being experimented upon. It does give you a sense of cleanliness since no one can sneeze on you but it also prevents you from having much of a conversation with anyone and gives you the feeling of being incarcerated. 2. All the food is served by the staff. There is a list of what is there but you tell them what you want and they dish it out for you and pour your drink for you including simple ice water. This leads to a significant line up because there are only a couple of staff trying to keep up with the volume of hungry and thirsty guests. I don't mind the wait but sometimes I just want to see what the food is before I commit or I only want a small amount of something and with this system, you get what they give you. Very school lunch lady like with the added negative of not knowing what it actually is going to look like until they hand it to you. I don't want to be too critical because everything I'm describing as a con is truly a first world problem. And it does deliver a nice space above the fracas of the usual goat rodeo in the main terminal below. Plus, the air conditioning is really nice in the Hawaiian humidity and because the space is large, you do feel like you have some privacy from the rest of the world. These things make it a perfectly functional lounge and something worth three stars. However, I have been to many lounges around the world that are steps up in terms of views, ambience, food offerings, and overall amenities. So I think three stars is right on the mark and a fair assessment of what you'll get for your time spent here. Worth it if you happen to be here but not worth a trip specifically to seek it out.

Solid airport lounge! You can gain access as a OneWorld alliance member (I want to say at least Sapphire level, but I got in here as a guest of someone who has the status so actually I'm not sure lol), since this Sakura Lounge is really an AA Admirals Club one.Even though it was May 2022 when I visited, they still require you to wear masks except when eating/drinking (#so2021 #so2020). All good, though, since the food, booze, and service make up for it.This place used to be self-serve, but no more. You go up to the front to tell the staff what you want to eat/drink, and they will get it for you and put everything on a tray (can you spell cafeteria?). For booze, it's the usual beer and wine (though I suspect they have hard A as well). For food, they have cut fruit, Japanese karaage, chicken noodle soup, Japanese instant noodles (also chicken flavored), and snacks like cookies and pastries.Even though the karaage was pre-fried and cold, it didn't taste that bad. Wish they had Kewpie mayonnaise to dip, though. This sounds horrible (maybe I'm just hard on myself), but I liked the Japanese instant noodles and had like 3 of them. They ask each time whether you want green onions on the noodles, and the answer should always be 'yes' because veggies are good for you. When I visited, there was barely anyone there (like no joke, more staff than guests), so that was enjoyable to have all that space. If you need to relieve yourself, you actually have to exit the lounge because the restrooms are outside of it. Hilarious when you re-enter, because the staff (staffs? trying to indicate plurality here) will greet you. It's so Hawaiian: Japanese manners, but in English.
