Paid even more to get EV but they don’t have almost any charges on the island. Whatever were available turned out had some issues with the system or visual defects. Horrible experience.

Have used Thrifty Car rental numerous times in the past and as recently as last July 2023 which was a great experience! Unfortunately this time we were given an economy car even though our rental guaranteed a compact car or higher! I chose the wild card option hoping I would get a better car (guaranteed at least a compact 5 seat car with trunk) The employee said no and they get to choose the car! I showed him my reservation and he said no! I said I wanted a car with a trunk for safety reasons for our luggage and bags! He said there is only two of you and it will be fine. We didn’t receive the standard pre check list and it was the only car available in the car park which I’m sure is why the run around. The car’s tires were worn, creaky door and permanent sand in every crevice because, there is no option for people to put beach chairs and items in the trunk as there is no trunk! When we returned it nobody scanned it back in! We waited and the attendant said you are good you can go! Never received and email for the final return and bill . Contacted Discount Hawaiian Car rental who we made the reservation with! Their staff and manager Kathy have been absolutely fantastic! They had never heard of this happening! If I wanted a compact car I would have reserved it at a lesser price! I will definitely continue to use Discount Hawaiian Car rental but I’m done with Thrifty’s Car Rental! Too bad we have always had great service but I really wasn’t impressed this time!

Average waiting time is 2hours here, that is in mid January. Long lines because it is the cheapest rental. If you want low prices be prepared to wait on the line on a hot day. But other than that everything went well and return was smooth and easy

I made the reservation through Expedia, and glad I did. When I went to the counter, the fees to add an additional driver (my wife who's in her, late 40's) was high, additional $13 per day. The cost of insurance (although my existing auto coverage would suffice), was $30 per day. The rental cost through Expedia was only 23.99, so this made absolutely no sense. I logged into Expedia and found out that I could add the same insurance for $10/day. So, be very, very careful on any upgrades/changes while at the counter, The car was kind of worn out, 36k miles which I think is high for a rental.Caveat Emptor!

I got charged a higher bill after the rental. I rented the car for 2 days and returned within 48 hour timeframe, but they still charged me for 2 extra hours. Not just that, I rented with Priceline for $45/day for Mustang and the receipt at the check in showed the same rate. However, their final bill charged me a higher rate. What a SCAM!!

Do yourself a favor and Pay the extra money and go with any other company in Maui!! You will thank yourself when you see all the people waiting to try and get a car. We spent half of our first day sitting and waiting for a car along with about 30 other people. From what we heard this is the norm. They have limited staff and cars as well. They were waiting for cars to be returned, cleaned and fueled one at a time for the next rental. Completely not prepared and you know they know exactly how many reservations they have. This is Dollar and Thrifty. They are combined together here. All the other companies were running their customers straight through.

DO NOT rent your car from them. It will be no way to start your Maui vacation. Their line moves ridiculously slow when you get to their office. I waited in line for over an hour even though I had already reserved my car prior to arriving. Then they try to rip you off by tacking on additional costs. I had purchased insurance when I booked with them but they told me that didn't cover liability. That plus gas was another $200 something dollars. I am waiting in the parking lot, like many others waiting to get their cars too, as I write this review. I've been waiting here for 1 hour already and I've only seen two people get into a rental car. Why aren't their cars ready?

If I could give ZERO stars I would! After 12 hours of travel, the absolute last thing I want to do on my vacation is wait over an HOUR for a rental car. There are 11 kiosks here, and only FOUR have agents. This is absolutely obnoxious to waste valuable vacation time standing in line. The agents are brusk and unapologetic. I will never rent from them again.

Terrible long waiting time (over 1 hour) at the counter followed by another similar waiting time in the parking lot waiting for a car to become available. Nobody could tell us when we would be able to get a car so it was just a long and frustrating waiting game.Worst is, nobody at the counter tells you about it.

Just want to say how pleased I was with Thrifty! I will say that the moment I arrived little bit hesitant on the experience, because there was a long line, but somehow the three agents at hand moved us through with both efficiency and the warm Aloha spirit.I want to give a huge shout out to EJ for his amazing service. He was not pushy on any of the options and hooked us up with a great deal as well as recommendations for great poke and shaved ice and moco loco! I'm sorry to see so many low reviews because that was not our experience. I hope that this will at least shine some light and some great people working really hard to make a weary traveler excited to get into the waters on the road to adventure.

Zero stars. Terribly long line. 2-3 workers.1-2 hour wait, have to see the additional wait to actually get a car. From all the prior reviews doesn't looks good. And go to row 9 and Pick any car....except there are no cars, only people waiting in line again....and the check in lady tried to upgrade me to full size or small SUV except there are none, wait in same line for whichever car gets returned....what a joke

What a joke! No wonder 1 star reviews are the norm. They need serious improvements in the rental car system at this airport. Thrifty, Dollar and Hertz share the same pickup location. Getting the reservation paperwork wasn't too bad...this time...last time it took more than an hour at the airport off-site terminal. Actually getting the car after we had the paperwork was a mess with MANY unhappy people. It wasn't the first time this happened to us. It appears they overbook car reservations and customers WAIT in the parking garage for a car to return...we waited about an hour. See pic. It's a very disorderly and unprofessional process. They NEED at least a monitor screen with the customer's name in the order they arrive at the pickup location.

After landing at midnight thinking getting a rental car would be easy and simple turned to be a horrible experience. My wife got the blue chip so we could add a driver for free they denied us to do that. After we gave up trying to explain we only got the blue chip for that reason. We get the car and head on our way. After getting to our condo we parked and went to bed woke up to a flat tire. We called the number on the keys to let them know and have them deal with it. Since our vehicle didn’t have a spare tire on it they had to tow the vehicle. They told us we would have to go back to the airport to change our vehicle which was fine. But they didn’t tell us that they were charging us $500 to tow the vehicle. We are now in the process of disputing this charge.Do your self a favour and just spend the extra money and go with any other rental car company. Also don’t call them unless you want them to charge you for every minute you’re on the phone. They charged us $67 for a phone call. Worst company I have ever dealt with.Save yourself a headache and don’t bother with this terrible company

They didn't explain the fuel options clearly. It's obviously a gimmick to make more money and they bank off you not looking into it. They made it sound as if they would allow me to return the vehicle at any level gas and they would charge me market rate to refill the gas used. That the $104 was just a deposit on the gas they would use to fill the tank back up and the remainder would be deposited to your account. That's not the case. They charged me $104 after taxes and fees and whatever fuel is left you lose. Even if you return the car completely empty you would pay $104 for a tank of gas which in a Ford edge is around 15 gallons coming to $70. I came back with the tank completely full and made sure to tell anyone that would listen. I had to wait in line again to ask them to refund my card and they wanted a receipt to prove that I filled the tank within 10 miles of the airport. Finally, they assured me I wouldn't be charged but I have yet to see the proof on my credit card. Bottom line is, say NO to every option they try to tack on when you go to pick up your rental car. Ohh...and black lives matter
