“Hit the Safeway when we first landed because KTA was closed, but was so happy to patronize the KTA afterwards. Amazing poke bar, amazing local prepared foods. And oh so much spam. Great beer selection as well as Japanese snacks. This store makes me happy.”

“In response to the "bring lots of money, they won't bother with insurance" comment: compounded prescriptions are rarely, if ever, covered by insurance. This is something the prescribing doctor should have clarified for you when telling you about your prescription.”

“As a visitor, i love the costco here. It has so much Hawaii special items, from shirt, to nuts to coffee, everything is so attempting and reasonably priced. Most of the other item here are at same price as mainland US. Not like saveway, i found the stuff there are so much more expensive than the mainland. It's definitely a good place to shop when u are on travel.. i got some rare items here and I'm super happy!”

“I needed to pick up some DayQuil and this Longs was just up the street from my condo, so it was super convenient for me. It may be a bit off the beaten path for those unfamiliar with the area though. Parking is readily available and inside the store is tidy with plenty of people to help you find what you need and get you on your way.”

“I have to give this place a 5 stars for service.I was trying to sign up for the CVS card so I can get the deals (the price for mauna loa mac nuts are much cheaper here than target or walmart) but my phone number kept not registering. They were so patient and tried to fix it but in the end it didnt work. The cashier offered to ask someone to scan their card so I can get the offer. This was the best service.”

“After getting great and super fast care from Urgent Care Kona. They sent prescription ahead to Longs for me. Longs expedited the prescription for me and I was out in 15minutes. Pharmacy staff were very friendly and helpful. Had a medical issue while on vacation in Hawaii and within 1 hour had gotten treatment from walkin and had meds in hand from Longs. Can't really ask for much better than that”

“Love this pharmacy. I am a physician, and have dealt with my prescriptions getting lost, etc. at any pharmacy you care to mention. I find Costco remarkably reliable and by far the cheapest for most meds. The most recent example: Same antibiotic, same number of pills from Costco--22 dollars and an (I will not specify) common chain pharmacy--131 dollars! As for promptness, yes, every pharmacy has unexpected delays as sometimes meds are not in stock, etc. However, as long as you have the text notification from Costco for your prescription, I have never found it to fail. You just go to the pharmacy when they tell you it is ready, and not before. It is true that just taking some employee's word as to when a med is ready is absolutely never a good idea at any pharmacy. Rely on the text notification (you should speak with pharmacy to find out how to set up online). Saves lots of time and aggravation.”

“Need groceries while in Kona? Do visit this Safeway location. It's a large, clean, bright, newer, full Safeway supermarket and pharmacy, just a short drive up the hill from downtown Kona on Henry Street. Driving south from the airport, our GPS initially took us to the closed Safeway near the Walmart. Sad! Thankfully we found this new and open Safeway location. There's a large parking lot in front. The store was BUSY during Ironman week in October! Staff were actively working to restock shelves but lots of things were wiped out - it was that busy. We found some things on our list (bananas, salty snacks, cold beverages, laundry detergent, sunscreen...). What we couldn't find at Safeway we found nearby at Target. We'll definitely be back when we're next in town.”

“I'm not sure yet who Andrew is in the pharmacy dept officially, He is absolutely WONDERFUL! The list would go on forever all the aloha that came from him.. truly cared anyone would be able to feel it! I did over the phone from the mainland. I was having such an issue with Walgreens & I called Longs within minutes on a Sunday no less Andrew had my scripts in the works, calling Dr & transferring. Mahalo for lokomaika`i Aloha Kim”

“CVS Long’s in Kailua-Kona (Palani Rd) is always cordial and pleasant upon arrival at the store. My biggest concern is when calling the pharmacy service, the AI continuously “apologizes” because they “didn’t get that”. It can be very frustrating. The good news is that eventually, the AI acknowledges your request and confirms the order.”

“I was in from out of town and my Dr called in my script to the wrong location. I was extremely time crunched, in pain and trying to catch a plane. I paid $150 for a driver to get me to this pharmacy before my plane left. This pharmacy went above and beyond and got my script out in record time even though it was not their error to fix.I was in such a rush to catch my flight I didn’t even thank them properly. Thank you, thank you, thank you”

“Went In here to look for a Hawaii Tank top to take back as a souvenir, but I didn't find any. However - I did find some other items 1/2 price gummy sour Easter candy for half price ( it was soft tangy & delicious!) A beautiful aqua teal eyeliner pencil and some Dove antiperspirant as mine was packed and I was headed to the beach one last time. The store is older and could use some updating, but it had lots of regular drugstore merch as well as beach items for fishing snorkelling Ect ! I didn't realize that Longs & CVS were associated, but I saw some signage in store, checked my email and I had a 4$ off coupon! I wasn't sure how to use it as I didn't have the app downloaded. Lisa, a beautiful friendly cashier was so helpful & patient and finding my card info so I could apply the discount! She was a gem and truly deserves to be recognized! I only wish I had longer to shop around - especially at the cosmetics section. I'm sure I would of been utilizing more coupons & discounts !!”

“The staff is very helpful. They tend to carry things that are not available in the big box stores. Sign up for an extracare savings card. I often get email offers for $/% off that I transfer to my card for additional savings.”
