“Patrick Rankin is one of the finest artist on the Big Island. His work exudes the spirit of his subjects be it a landscape, or the great American traditions; the American Indian saga or story tell through his realistic style, he is exceptional. The unfortunate part is that his remote gallery at the end of the road in Ni'ulii is rarely open. If you call, in advance perhaps you will be able to make an appt. Rev' on Master Rankin. I have always been a fan.”

“This unpretentious little gallery features bowls made by the legendary (in wooden bowl circles) Larry Z whose work can also be found in the White House wooden bowl collection started by the Clintons, whom I have seen visit there. Don't miss the ukuleles by local Hawaiian luthiers.”

“Most people go to Hawi on the Kohala Coast to visit the art stores, but the Ackerman Galleries are just a short two miles further down the road in Kapa'au. The art and gifts are far superior than anything in Hawi. So go on and drive to Kapa'au and you'll find the store across the street from the original statue of King Kamehameha I. That's another reason to visit and they have plenty of parking. Also there's a great little restaurant right next door.”

“Always a treat to shop at The Ackerman Gallery!! We make a point to stop in every time we are in Hawi and share this little gem with our friends and family. Customer service is phenomenal and the gallery has beautiful Hawaiian jewelry and clothing, etc. So much Aloha in this business.”
