Aoao O Na Loko Ia O Maui is a unique Hawaiian fishpond that plays a vital role in connecting communities and revitalizing the local aquaculture. Visitors often see workers hand-laying stones to maintain the fishpond, providing an opportunity to learn about this traditional practice. The fishpond features a safe, calm wading area ideal for families and young children, with no waves and a depth of only 4 feet. It is a perfect spot for little ones to enjoy without the worry of harsh water conditions. The area is home to small fish and turtles, which can often be seen swimming or sunbathing on the rocks, especially at sunrise and sunset. Although the water is too murky for snorkeling, the fishpond offers a peaceful environment for wading and observing sea life. Visitors are encouraged to be respectful of the wildlife and maintain a safe distance from the turtles.
We stayed across in the Hilton villas for two nights and found this lovely spot. We saw sea turtles resting on the rocks and swimming along the water. The water was nice and shallow.

Great place to chill with the kids. Saw some turtles sunbathing. Parking lot is small, you may need to park on the street.
