I'm editing my review due to the fact that my bf was in a different tower & room via my initial 1st review 5 star rating. He was moved to the much more "Authentic" part of the Outrigger Kaanapali Beach Hotels most Hawaiian hotel room. Although previously stated the hotel staff were helpful, accommodating & friendly. Yes we would get looked at or gawked at or "watched" & "followed" for NO reason other than blatant Racism. My bf no longer felt safe or relaxed which in turn caused me anxiety. My bf would get harassed for parking in perfectly good parking stalls on property as well as harassed for other people's vehicles being parked in certain parking stalls that have NOTHING to do with him or myself but he's getting harassed because his car "looked" just like the car being complained about. Ridiculous! I've been standing to the side out the way minding my own business waiting under the shade of a kukui but tree for my bf so we could walk to the beach together & have security out of nowhere ride up behind me then close besides me demanding to know where I'm going. Like for what reason?? Then another early morning the same security guard accompanied with another security I'm guessing come ride straight up to me so I move to the side to throw away a can in the trash bin demanding if I'm staying here, if I'm not I need to leave, my dog cant be on property we need to leave (my dogs tiny like a good 20lbs maybe) 1st of all I explained I had to grab something I threw my rubbish away & I was leaving but i stopped because you stopped me with your high beams blazing in my face at 6am sherlock. Extremely Rude!! My bf's hotel room was NASTY. It smelt a little like a mixture of toe jams & wet dog. We got heavy duty carpet cleaner spray to mask the funk. The ceiling above the sink was not only see through but there was a ceiling board missing. The sprinklers in the room were already rusting & you could see the green acid slash nickel build up. His AC smelt of previous funk along with a handful of dust bunnies & their guts wiped up across the front of the AC vent more than likely the beginning or mid stages of ASBESTOS. Housekeeping for whatever reason would not replenish his tp or sometimes even his towels. I don't know what that was about because sometimes there were 2 housekeepers & we always tipped. Ron @ the bell desk is an Outstanding Employee, Doctor also Fantastic & lastly the Front desk Wahine especially Mel ALL Extremely Aloha so Thankyou Ladies & Gentleman very much for your help & assistance during our time of hardship towards me & my bf. Mahalo & Thank You to Everyone especially the Housekeeping & Front Desk office workers. Mahalo & Thankyou again sincerely.Nearby activities: Within walking distance of Whalers Village Kaanapali which has numerous shops, food court, restaurants & all kinds of different stores. This is also 1 of the main bus stop areas. There is also a kid friendly climbing tower & sitting areas.

Most Hawaiian Hotel in Maui. If you want to experience Hawaiian culture, hospitality, and Aloha, and be treated like Ohana, this is the place. If you want the crowd, hustle and bustle, and status of a big name Resort, this is not the place for you. My wife and I consider KBH our second home and we tell all the timeshare sharks we already have a family home for less money... and the Best MaiTai's on the island!Update, Not sure how it is now that Outrigger is running everything but I notice the prices just went wayyyy up!

The rooms are upgraded and very nice. The beds are some of the most comfortable I've slept in compared to many other hotels I've tried at more name brand hotels. They only got 4-stars just because the TV and room phone were out the day we checked-in and they said it would be fixed the next day. We were out all day and came back to find they still weren't working. They moved us to another room which was just inconvenient but management was very helpful. Customer service is excellent here from front desk staff to the housekeeping services.Rooms: The rooms were upgraded with room key activation for the lights to come on which helps make it energy efficient.Nearby activities: There is a Whalers Village with many shops and restaurants which is like a 5-10 minute walk. Very convenient and nice.Walkability: You can walk along the beach on a sidewalk or on the front side of the hotels on a sidewalk. For any major shopping or restaurants outside of Whalers Village you'll need to drive.Food & drinks: There is a Maui Brewing Co. on the property and many big or small restaurants nearby. Just make sure to check the larger restaurants in Whalers Village because they'll need a reservation.

My wife and I were just there at the KBH, and went home on 2/3/24. The personnel at the hotel haven’t changed, but the way they operate now since being bought out by Outrigger has changed the way they treat returning guests. For example; we used to get cookies on our pillows each night, that is gone. We used to get a fruit plate delivered to our room free of charge 1 night during our stay, this has been discontinued. And they used to give us a free dinner voucher for my wife and I to eat at the restaurant, this no longer exists. They also used to have nightly hula shows right at the hotel, this is now also gone. It has lost that friendly touch we thought that made it the most Hawaiian hotel. We came away this time with a negative feeling about our visit, which has never happened before. We realize that there’s a lot of people still suffering from the terrible fires in Lahaina, but that shouldn’t affect the way the hotel treats its returning or newly visiting guests. In regards to hotel rates, that to has dramatically increased to the point that returning to the KBH now is out of reach for us. It’s truly sad to see all these changes that affected our visit so negatively! We have always loved returning back to the KBH, this was our 7th trip to KBH, so sad to think it was probably our last. Many personal touches, the things that people remember most about their stay would have to be brought back for us to even consider returning.Mahalo,Brian & Sandy TorgersonNearby activities: Before COVID, the KBH used to have nightly hula shows at the hotel, and they had a tiki bar and snack shack where you could purchase fast food items. That is all gone. They eliminated all of that for some reason, and built a new restaurant on the beach, which I feel was a setback to the way it used to be. It lost its feeling as the most Hawaiian hotel.
