“March 2024: very enjoyable 3 days in a cute drive in motel. rooms are very reasonably priced. ours had a nice little kitchenette. the bathroom was nicely renovated. most important to us: It was clean. don't come expecting pools and beaches, but if you are looking for a nice place to make day trips from, this will do nicely. many eating options within 5 minutes of walking, as well as a grocery. okay, it's not 5 Star eating. mostly small local restaurants. we would stay here again. one of the reviews I read included a complaint about making the tv work. first, why are you watching tv? second, all hotel tv systems suck. third, they have a laminated instruction sheet on tv use.”

“I stayed at the Fairmont Orchid in late October 2023. I was traveling by myself and am 65 years old. The hotel, grounds, pool and calm white sand beach area are all lovely. The employees provide outstanding service. I wanted to take a moment to mention some outstanding employees. Andrew who provides food and beverage service at the pool provided the best poolside service I have ever experienced at any resort or urban hotel. I ddin't have to wait for service or make an effort to get his attention.I almost avoided Binchoton Bar and Grill because I was not even sure if I could pronounce the name correctly. The menu with sake drinks and unusual dishes was quite foreign to me. Jayvie, my waiter, arrived shortly after I sat down, was able to answer all my questions and make recomendations between a few items. The food was delicous and I can't wait to return. Jayvie's timeing, knowledge of the offerings and demeanor were as good as any service I have had at any fine dining establishment. If you like a little spice, order the Tempura Cauliflower! Both Charlene and Maria who handled my check-in adn check-out were welcoming, efficient and could answer all of the questions I had. Even though I arrived quite early in the day, Charlene had a room for me within an hour of my arrival. The highlight of my stay was canoe paddling with Elijah. Since I was alone and others hadn't signed up for outrigger canoeing I was going to do stand up paddling. He quickly sized up that I was more interested in canoe paddling than SUP. I have a stand up paddle board and do it fairly often. He offered to take me out on the OC 2 canoe instead of Stand Up Paddling. I have been wanting to try out and OC 1 or OC 2 and jumped at the chance. We covered quite a bit of ocean, had engaging conversations, he taught me some techniques to improve my paddling and it was a complete blast.Looking forward to another stay in the future.”
