The Blackwell has become our go-to for a night away. It's a beautiful place that's close to home, but worlds away. It's a beautiful place that's nice and quiet. My only complaint is the matress is a little too firm for my liking, but we like it plush.

This place has charm out the wazoo. Booked the king suite with my wife for Valentine's Day and we loved it. It's a little cold if you forget to turn on the space heater, but it was magnificent. The bed was comfy, the amenities are great, and we got to enjoy a game of pool in the lounge area. Staying here made me want an old-style house. Breakfast was at 9 am, and we were pleasantly surprised to find homemade French toast and cheesy eggs waiting for us downstairs! We ate by the fireplace and just enjoyed the atmosphere. The other guests were also respectful and nice and the staff was incredibly helpful and proactive in making sure we had a good stay. We loved it so much.

Local who has always wanted to experience staying here, but not wanting to pay peak season prices…very disappointing. Booked ‘host choice’ for a bit more money instead of lowest price room and still got the lowest priced room when there were much nicer rooms available that they could have put us in.Bed/pillows were TERRIBLE, breakfast was okay. Have lived in and stayed at many B&Bs over the years and this one was so disappointing. Decor and furniture felt hodge podge with chrome pieces and cheap bedding/art everywhere.

The hotel has closed, and the building is now a private home.

First time at the Blackwell for us. Weboth love old homes and we were so happy to have stayed in this beautiful and historic home. Played pool and drank wine by the fire. Location was perfect for us. Strolleddown the street for dinner. Our daughter lives in Canada so I believe this will be our stopping point from now on.

I loved my time here very much. The only issue was the wifi. But I let an employee know the morning I was checking out and they said they'd been having some issues but would check on my room for sure, for the future. And they are really a B&B in my opinion! Which is what I always want when I travel but usually aren't at the great price this was! Full hot breakfast, which I love and appreciate! Can't wait to go back!!!!Walkability: So close to the downtown Coeur D'Alene people usually are looking for. Very easy walk. Even with snow falling ?

My friend and I were visiting CDA and wanted to see historic homes in the area. It was cold and rainy and all of the doors to building were locked, and no one was there to answer, so we stood outside and tried to confirm our reservation thru the phone. Finally, did that, then we were able to access our room. The bed was so high I needed a step stool to get on it, I called to ask for one. Once again nobody around, so I sent a message and they told me where I could find one. Walking around the house was disappointing. It had been remodeled and did not reflect the turn of the century homes we were hoping to see. Just so disappointed. Food was ok at breakfast the next morning, but not enough seats at a table to enjoy a sit down breakfast (they were out of MILK and other fruit drinks) They told us we could sit on a sofa...? We were expecting so much more for the price we paid. We won't go back.Noteworthy details: This site is not letting me post. Interesting!

The room was not entirely clean to begin with with trash and dirt stuffed between and under appliances and furniture. An after hour guest arrived not knowing how to check in, called after hours management number with no answer or returned call... as a guest I had to help another guest figure out where their room was located and what to do.I paid for a room for myself, my adult daughter and two children to share my room while I prepare for my wedding. My adult daughter was spoken to with distain when she made a simple request of more towels. And my younger daughter and my niece were first told that they could not have breakfast because it was "only for paid guests who stayed at the hotel" and then after the children explained they were guests (11 & 13) they were told rudely to be sure not to grab too much breakfast. This was after the management explaining to me the day prior that they were not aware I was going to have children with me and did not have the breakfast prepared for that many people (even though I made it clear in my reservation to have an extra bed prepared for my daughters).. and almost charged me extra for my adult daughter to eat breakfast as if two adults wasn't expected to stay. And even though she never did help herself to breakfast .. they clearly still did not make enough to serve my two small children alone. They charged me extra for clearing out trash that we had left in a pile to easily be taken out. Apparently you must be sure to clean your own room if you are to stay here.I used to be management for this establishment under different leadership, never would I have treated guests this way and certainly as a boutique hotel would have made the experience personal and pleasant.I would have rather paid the price for a lower rated hotel, at least I would have known what to expect.Great art, beautiful ambience. Need to treat people better and be available instead of abandoning guests. There is room for improvement.

We only were able to stay one night (for our anniversary) but would have liked more! Really neat house, nicely done and set up for this function. Everything was great. Just be aware of steep stairs to get to the upper floor if that might be an issue.Walkability: Really handy to the downtown area.

This little inn is centrally located just a few blocks from the lake! It's so perfect. I personally stayed in the summer and was fond of the whole experience. Best part was the surprise waiting when I opened the door to my room. 10/10 recommend

We did not actually stay at the Blackwell despite having reservations months in advance. We were called to ask if we could change the dates of vacation and when we said we could not we were told our reservation would be cancelled... but we could get 10% off next time. Since it was a holiday weekend we were very challenged to find a suitable place to stay at that late date. Then we got this 'leave a review' request. Lacking some administrative professionalism. We will not be coming back to use that 10% discount. I do recommend Linden Coffee- they have rooms above the coffee shop to reserve- wish we knew about this place prior to booking.

We stayed at the Blackwell for 2 nights in late July. The check-in process was flawless and very personal. The place is absolutely beautiful. We had one of the few room with a detached bathroom. It wasn't an issue since the bathroom was allocated just to us. The location is perfect walking distance to the lake activities and just far enough away from the lake to be less touristy. We met some amazing people at breakfast and even shared a boat ride with them during our stay. Great staff and everything you need is provided for a wonderful stay. We would recommend this place to any couple for a romantic stay or just for fun. Cool old house.Rooms: Large and comfortable. Love the adjustable mattresses.Safety: Stairs. Need to have some mobility.Walkability: perfect distance from the lake.

My wife and I stayed one night. It's the perfect location to walk the town. The bed was very comfortable. The room and whole building were clean. Everything was very convenient.
