1) Appointments: this place is popular so when a friendly receptionist was able to squeeze in our never-before-seen puppy within a week onto a schedule booked out for a month, we were impressed 2) Cleanliness: the open lobby is pristine for a business dominated by animals and lacks an anticipated smell often associated with such institutions 3) Friendliness: being greeted by staff bearing warm smiles helps to decrease both owner and pet anxiety in what can be a nerve wracking situation 4) Vet techs: professional, knowledgeable and thorough these techs are more helpful than any encountered in other similar establishments we've visited in years past 5) Veterinarians: for reasons unclear to me, perhaps great contracts for the doctors, this place has assembled an All-Star cast of compassionate pet care experts, such as Drs Thrasher and Reese, who are as competent in their life careers as they are caring for owners.

I have interned at prairie and I take my two pups there. They always do such an amazing job. There is never a time a pet is getting less quality care. They are very understanding for budgeting and you always will learn something. Veterinarians are top notch and I loved working beside them at my internship. I highly recommend coming to prairie if you want high quality care

This is by far the worst vet experience I have ever had. The staff is beyond rude. They don't want to help you at all. I was shocked at the horrible treatment I received

Prairie animal hospital is awesome. They saved my dog Sherman’s life. The staff was awesome and Dr. Nicholson was excellent. I thought for sure I was going to have to put Sherman down, Dr. Nicholson and his team were not ready to give up on him. Thanks to the PAH team, Sherman is doing great and back to his normal self. I truly appreciate everything the doctors and nurses did for me and my pet. Thank you for not giving up on Sherman!

Prairie Animal Hospital is an incredible care facility. The lobby is always clean and all staff members have been absolutely wonderful. The main reason for writing this review is because Dr. Renner has been the best vet we have ever met. She is incredibly kind, caring, and compassionate. She’s also very skilled and has completed two successful eyelid tumor removals even though there wasn’t much to work with - these surgeries greatly improved our senior dogs quality of life. Most recently, Dr. Renner squeezed us in same day on a Friday afternoon when we let her know our dog, Angus, had been having trouble stumbling and falling. She thoroughly checked him over and helped us come up with a treatment plan. During all of our conversations with her, she explains everything clearly and is so patient with all of our questions. She is conservative with her care approach, while also ensuring Angus has the best treatment options and the highest standard of care. Prairie Animal Hospital, and Dr. Renner in particular, are absolutely amazing. We would absolutely trust them with any animals (family members) we have. We are so lucky and grateful to have found them!

By far the absolute WORST vets office I have ever been to!!! I've received mediocre care here for my pets the past few years, but my latest experience has left me beyond furious! Their overwhelming greed, extortionist prices on medications, and complete and utter lack of care for their patients nearly cost my dog her life. The Cliff Notes version: After learning that Prairie Animal Hospital was charging me almost 3x what I could buy my elderly dog's 3 different heart medication for online ($70 online vs their almost $200 per month for the exact same meds), they did everything they could to stand in the way of me transferring her prescription. (I have NEVER had a problem with a vet transferring a prescription previously, especially when the price difference was this drastic. They could have signed off on the switch over the phone and prevented the entire situation that followed.) After they delayed the transfer of her medication as long as they possibly could, I was forced to buy additional meds from them to get her through to when the new prescription would arrive. Fine, whatever. I was EXTREMELY specific in requesting 1 additional week of her meds, but somehow they 'misunderstood' and filled it for 2 weeks. Just that little bit more money in their pockets. Again, fine, whatever. When I questioned my bill and why the price per pill was more than last time, the receptionist was extremely rude and after dodging the question multiple times finally admitted that they charge a hidden $10 'filling' fee every time they fill a prescription. Fee is no where to be found on the bill, but is merely spread out amongst the prescriptions that are filled. They then changed one form of her meds from a chewable to a caplet without letting me know, and on top of that managed to mislabel the changed prescription. When I questioned the pharmacy, the person I spoke with admitted that 'they probably should have changed that.' Um, yeah, you think?? 12 hours after starting the mislabeled and changed medication (after I verified that it was what they meant for me to give her) she started vomiting. For an elderly dog with a heart condition, that is very, VERY bad! After a few days of failed attempts to get her system on board with the new meds and trying to get her to keep food down, she then went 24 hours without being able to keep any food or water down at all. Called the vets office the minute they opened the next morning to get her in for an emergency appointment, and was told they had no appointments available but that "you can drop her off at 10:30am and someone will look at her eventually, but plan to leave her all day." I'm sorry, but "someone" looking at her "eventually" is NOT good enough. When I pointed out that leaving a very ill elderly dog with a heart condition in a stressful environment for over 7 hours was absolutely not in her best interest, the receptionist re-iterated that was my only option and then hung up on me. So, in summary, if you don't mind paying insanely overly inflated prices for your pets life saving medications, and don't mind having them switch medications and mislabel prescriptions, and don't mind that those changes may very well make your pet violently ill, and then don't mind that they don't give a rats hinney that your pet has an emergency situation because of them, then this is definitely the vets office for you! Shame on you Prairie Animal Hospital! I completely understand that you can't stay in business if you give your services or products away for free, but unadulterated greed and zero care for the patients is NOT acceptable. Especially when you're talking about the lives of people pets.

The veterinarians and care provided here are top notch!!! I have two Shiba Inu dogs which can be a difficult (skittish) breed for vets, but the staff at Prairie Animal Hospital know how to handle them. ;) My female has kidney disease and after moving here about two years ago, I needed to find a good vet for her care. I tried a few places before finding this amazing team, and I have been impressed with the treatment programs they provide. I am so happy to know my furry babies are in great hands!

I’ve been going to Prairie Animal Hospital since 1992. Jim Meyer was a friend and an great vet. Recently, I can’t seem to get into see the vet in a timely manner. I called because I feared my dog had a UTI and I was told the soonest I could be seen was in 32 days days. I didn’t expect a same day appointment but 32 days to wait is silly. I was told I could call the next day and possibly be seen as an emergency walk in which would cost more money. This isn’t the first time I’ve been told I had to wait. I waited 5 weeks to get in for my annual shot appointment. Prairie has taken on too many clients, reduced the number of days open and the quality of care has suffered. Sorry but after 30 years you’ve lost my business.

I've taken a couple animals here in the past year. I've had No major pet issues and I really can't complain about the service during an appointment. The reason for the three stars is that they are very impacted. Congratulations to them for having a robust business but appointments are weeks out. Even when you have an appointment you could be waiting for an hour. I have seen people in the waiting room eventually leave after waiting so long. I tried to make an appointment for a pet who is having difficulties breathing. I finally got an appointment but it's a week out. If your pet is having a significant issue you can't go to Prairie. You need to go to a 24 hour vet hospital. I really hate leaving a review like this. When you finally get into an exam room they do a good job. But the significant wait to get an appointment or even when you have an appointment are just bad. If I were to pick a new vet but I would seek a place that's more responsive to your pets needs. Oh, additionally, they really push the use of their app to make appointments and to use at check-in. Great idea but their app has never worked once I get near the business. Once again, it's hard to blame them. But I have one of the major phone carriers and there's no signal at their location.

Went there for my first visit today after my dog had a seizure. Everyone was very welcoming and kind. The doctor and vet tech were very informative and calm. My dog was not scared to be at the vet at all. In fact, he even didn’t flinch when they took his temperature. He was such a good boy and felt at home there. I definitely recommend this place!!!

We took our dog in for a Emergency Ear Infection and got initial treatment. We were told by the vet that he needed to be seen again in 7 days. They would not make an appointment for this at the front desk saying they are booked out. We were told to call at 7:30 am and they would fit him in on the day they vet asked us to bring him back. We called at 7:30 sharp to be told they are already full today, call back tomorrow and we will make sure you will get a spot. We called

I recently took my french bulldog here As I became unhappy with my previous local vet. They are very busy but they go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable when your pet is in pain. From the time I entered Until I picked my pup up I was very comfortable with their kindness and professionalism. Prairie Animal Hospital! is our new Vet
