Business center doesn't really work. But the front desk will let you send them an email and they will print what you need.
Rooms are comfortable. Staff is really nice. Good location near stores and restaurants.

Good location. Other factors, unfortunately, are not on par with other Hampton experiences I have had. The bed was comfortable, but the shower head clearly had mold growth, walls were cracked a bit in my room and the shower. There was also a large buildup of trash in the hallway trash can over several days, concerning. The system was down when I was trying to check in. And both elevators do make a rather concerning noise...

Spacious, clean rooms! Located close to shopping in Alton, only about 39 min from Airport.

We stopped in Alton at 3am. Went to a few other hotels and they had no vacancy. We stopped here and they let us in and gave us a room. The girl with the cat glasses was very kind and helpful! The room was really nice and the whole hotel was very cute! Great experience
Rooms: Cute and comfy room!

Everything I like about Hampton Inns: clean spacious rooms, good breakfast, good staff. This one has several restaurants nearby, although with a four-lane road you'll want to drive rather than walk to them.
A special shout-out to Mikie at the front desk. While I was waiting to check in, she was helping a senior citizen in a walker who was clearly confused. She figured out he needed to be at the Best Western next door. When she called them and got their voice mail, she walked him over to the Best Western. That's extraordinary service.

The overall facility was clean, rooms comfortable, shower had fantastic pressure and the young lady at the front desk was very pleasant.
My only main concern was both elevators made some concerning noises during operation

Hotel was nice and clean. The staff were friendly and were accommodating by getting us adjoining rooms so that our large family could be together.

I'm not a fan of pocket doors for bathroom. Food was just okay. Personnel were great and friendly.

Compared to most Hampton Inns this one doesn't quite measure up. We stayed two nights. There was long hair in the shower, a small clump of curly hair on the bathroom floor. Couldn't use the coffee maker because they didn't leave any cups. They offer a breakfast but the eggs were flavorless and the sausage pattys were like rubber. Fortunately the beds were nice. Could definitely use more parking spaces.

PROS:
- Exceptionally Clean
- Looked fairly new
- They thought of all the little things: plenty of towels, built-in desk, large shampoo (etc.) built in, hooks for coats, ottomans for putting shoes on, mini-fridge, microwave with an extra outlet built in
- Staff was friendly
- Honored my Hilton Gold status with 2 free beverages
- Good location (near Amtrak - prob. close enough to walk) & decent parking
- Breakfast was fairly good. The 1st day was great and had sausage patties. The 2nd day only had bacon for meat, which was OK but not quite as good. I liked the good spread of condiments (ketchup, sugar, salt, pepper, jelly, etc.)
ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT:
- Elevators are slow and squeaky
- The duvet or comforter was too heavy and kept falling off during the night (others have mentioned this in reviews)
- It's not loud, but the walls do allow SOME sound through. I was able to hear routine things like neighbors opening curtains and running the shower. I was lucky that there was very little noise from others.
- (And ... the biggest disappointment) The mattress was not very good. As in, not the worst ever, but not very good. Too bouncy, and just feels cheap. Stayed 2 nights, and I'm sore this 2nd AM. I've bought $300 Amazon mattresses that are better. Why does this vary so much with Hamptons? You would think there would be 1 standard, good quality mattress that Hilton could require.
As Director Krennic (Star Wars Rogue One) says, "We were THIS CLOSE to greatness!" -- if they could just get better mattresses! Lots of folks have mentioned this in the reviews, so it's not a surprise. If I could, I would give 4.5 stars, but I guess that rounds up so will give 5 overall -- 3 for rooms in light of the mattress.
If the mattresses would improve, this would be my "go to" for all stays in Alton. As it is, it's just in consideration.

We decided to book this hotel due to the reviews online as we wanted to spend sometime in St. Louis. When we got there the lobby was clean. We checked in and went to our room. They put us on the 4th floor way on the end of the hall. The room right next to ours looked like someone was living there. There were clothes everywhere and food containers. In our room, there was a febreeze bottle in one of the beds. One of beds were very squeaky everytime you sat and got up. The headboards were stained and there were rips in the couch. We didn't feel comfortable staying so we went to the front desk and let them know we were not staying. The lady at the front desk was very polite when we checked in and when we decided to not stay. She was the best thing about this place.
