The idea of turning a small school into a hotel is certainly unique! They lean into it, leaving blackboards up where guests can draw or leave messages. They further use the classroom theme with books on various subjects, and even include a working phonograph and record collection.
Each room is large, made up of a full classroom, divided with a low wall for the sleeping area, seating area, dining table and small kitchenet, and with what must have been storage converted to a bathroom area with jetted tub and shower. It certainly isn't a luxury hotel, but it is a cute concept. The included breakfast was excellent both days!

Davie School Inn and the innkeepers are amazing! Super hospitable, the decor in the rooms is flawless and so fitting, the inn is very clean, and the breakfasts… well, I would happily eat them every day. Especially the baked French toast and the seasoned potatoes! We were lucky enough to attend a Southern Illinois Opry concert in the schoolgymnasium during our stay there and it was the perfect little date night! Our whole weekend at the inn was perfect and relaxing — highly recommend!

This was one of the most unique places we have stayed and we look forward to returning. We stayed in the yellow room, which had plenty of space and beds for our family of three. Breakfast was delicious each morning, the owners are welcoming and offered great recommendations for other meals and the location in Anna was centrally located for us to explore both hiking trails and the wine trail.

My experience here was solid! The owners were extremely helpful and accommodating towards me. Answered all my questions and gave me insight to the area. I cannot speak enough to their hospitality and highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy a good room, nice breakfast, friendly staff and a cool building to stay at.

I stayed here for a week-long work trip and it was the highlight of the week! The owners are incredibly sweet and available for any issues/questions with your stay. The breakfast served it's always fantastic to the point where i feel bad if I don't finish it. Incredible food options within the area including a steakhouse and Italian beef.

Great idea to turn a former school into an Inn. What a fantasic job the owners did preserving all the neat items like books and desks. This place could be a museum.
Extremely large rooms and have excellent air conditioning and well as electrical. I ran a hair dryer and Dyson air wrap. For anyone worried about old wiring…don’t. It works perfect like any modern commercial building does.
Breakfast was fantastic. I never had French toast like that. My goodness it was all delic! 😋
Side note:
Property has no elevators. And you really can’t explore the school aimlessly without setting up a tour. There is quiet time I believe it’s from 10:30pm-7am.

This bed and breakfast is a must if you are visiting the area! Set in a historic school building, each room is a former classroom with a school subject theme. There is a charming deck area, board games and movies to borrow, and great restaurants within walking distance. The room was large and pristine. Tammy and Lyle were so friendly and communicative! Also, the included breakfast was out of this world! All of this for a really great price. 10/10 would highly recommend!

We were so lucky to discover this gem in our search for lodgings on the path of totality for the eclipse. We had a wonderful time here. This place is full of charm, and innkeepers Lyle and Tammy are so welcoming and hospitable. (Someone is also a very good cook, because the breakfasts were amazing!). My kiddo especially liked a soak in the deep jacuzzi tub after a long day of exploring the Shawnee National Forest and other nearby points of interest. It was so nice to have a fridge and microwave, table, desk, couch, glider rocker . . . all the creature comforts. We highly recommend!

We stayed here as we explored the Shawnee National Forest. Coming back to a big Jacuzzi tub and fireplace after a day of hiking was amazing. The innkeepers went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. Every breakfast was delicious!

My husband and I stayed in the gold room for our anniversary. Absolutely stunning room! From the moment we walked in, we felt like we were in a dream! Tammy an Lyle were so wonderful to work with and more than accommodating! Breakfast was absolutely delicious!!! Could not ask for a better experience and will be back for our next anniversary!
